I agree, he was always a class act, just not the head coach we needed. But, when he was hired, I don't recall we had many options. He seemed like someone that took a chance with us and we with him, just didn't work.

I'm sure Phil thanks all of you for the well wishes and is at home smiling just reading all these fine compliments found here on ponyfans.com about his character! *thick sarcasm*

I guess some of us are just tired of rehashing the same old crap about PB and know when enough is enough.

"ALL IN ALL IN ALL IN ALL IN"
Ya think PB might change that blitz play call against us in 2009?

Yeah, that was the key play to game, huh? So we'd have won if it weren't for that?

No it wasn't the key to the game, Jr., just reflective of the Genius that was PB.

And that specific play would have been limited to a four yard catch if we did not blatantly miss the initial tackle on the reciever.

Are you suggesting:
"BRING THE HOUSE"
OR
"BLITZ"

Take everything that Chuck says in the "Daily Mail" with a grain of salt. He has mishandled, misinformed and misquoted Marshall staff and Admin. for years. This is a guy that said it was a "Done Deal" that Larry Kueck was the next HC at Marshall, that Donnie Jones wasn't even a candidate for the mens HC position and that 2/3 of our recruits weren't on campus just last week.
In other words Chuck is rarely right. He reads our message boards and 2-3 days later you see a rumor printed as fact. Phil was in Huntington from Wed.-Sat. evening interviewing and touring the Campus and city. Snyder said he should know something by days end on Bennett.

Sounds like Bennett is trying to get a LB job in the pros, possibly Cowboys.

Coaching is a fraternity. His best friend is Fox the HC for Carolina. It has nothing to do with wins ands loses. Bottom line is, PB is a good coacH! He wasn't good at SMU, as well as several other coaches whoses careeers have continued after leaving SMU. Thank God for Orsini and JJ. We are like butter, on a roll!

HUNTINGTON -- Former SMU head football coach Phil Bennett has withdrawn from consideration for Marshall University’s defensive coordinator position.
Bennett informed Thundering Herd head coach Mark Snyder of his decision Tuesday morning. Bennett was considered a lead candidate along with former Cincinnati head coach Rick Minter and former Michigan assistants Steve Stripling and Steve Szabo.
