People profess hate for that which they covet.
And to paraphrase Hannibal Lector, they covet what they see every day.
So essentially, the mere sight (or thought) of SMU fills them with rage because they want to be us.
Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein.

The first topic on each board is SMU related, and the funny thing is that neither string really talks about SMU FOOTBALL!!! It's about BMW's, $, trust funds and buying your way through life. I cannot wait for the day when these people are jealous of BOTH our lifestyle AND our football program.
But seriously, I have never seen such crap on a football related board. Leave that stuff for the E Channel, and let's talk about football! Those UNT'ers have a serious inferiority complex..geez.
That's funny. Doesn't describe me. I was fortunate enough to have family means to attend SMU, but it was by no means a reflection of this "lifestyle" to which these TCU and UNT types ascribe. I'm a banker...hardly the vocational choice that makes one wealthy. My wife is a teacher. I have a special needs child. Yeah, his older brother is in private school (my mom is the Head of School), but to compensate, I drive my grandmother's old car b/c she is 93, lucid, a cheapskate, and, fortunately for me, believes she shouldn't be driving anymore. My BMW days were largely the 90s (black 325i & land rover), and since then I tend to be prone to whatever has the least payment, best gas mileage, and allows me comfortable travel to Dallas 12-18 times a year counting SMU football games (and one day, basketball games) and Children's Hospital (on yeah, I forgot, I go with Mustang 1991 to the games, and he drives most of the time). So please tell me again about what TCU types think of SMU types? I obviously am not what they were thinking, but then again, I do have one thing on all of them...I went to SMU. They went to that other school in Ft. Worth. What they drive and where they hunt doesn't fix that flaw...they can kiss my [deleted] with that whole "lifestyle" thing. My sister is a Horney Toad, and she generally feels the same way about SMU. I think it's in their water.
actually a lot more representative of smu. pretty stupid stereotypes floating around out there.

Not familiar with those fine web outlets.....
I'm shocked by all of this. First, North Texas CC has websites? Second, they know how to access them?

I almost said something that got this thread dumped and editted myself. I'll paraphrase to say that little men envy big men and big women envy little women. UNT needless to say envies SMU.

As a Frog there is no hate on our board except to say that dumping offers on kids without finding them options is wrong. When we have done it, we help find those kids other offers and in some cases at conference rivals. Additionally, doing so in talent rich East Texas without a phone call by the head coach to the recruit can be a major mistake because smu is not Hawaii. What worked for JJ there might not translate to Texas in recruiting battles.
As for the dress BS--I rarely see cowboy crap on our campus or in Fort Worth. What you see are the out of townees in the stock show and horse circuits who are typically not from Fort Worth. Sorry to burst your bubble myth. We might be called Cowtown, but Fort Worth is hardly country except in the designated areas. Just like you guys are not all snobby country clubbers. Basically, we are both the same with the same proportions of rich to middle income city kids. Almost identical one Billion dollar endowments and same size undergrad populations and Greek sizes. However, you are right on the NTSU folks, they are jealous of all of us and for good reason I might add.
Finally, most on our board dislike some of your guys attitudes that you are now going to be world beaters and it needs to tone down until you actually do it. It does not happen overnight and to gain respect you have to earn it and quite frankly you haven't earned anything in the last 20 years to display the attitude we are seeing. Don't act like the newly rich. Act with class. Win first, then talk.

I am so pleased that you have warned the posters of this board that their dreams of victory might offend people on another board who do not even post on this one. Go on. What else can I do to make their lives better?

Win? Like we did the last few times we played bball?
For us not to be excited about our future would be playing into the losing tradition that we have endured the last 20 years. For the first time in a long time, we ARE confident that we're going to win. That type of attitude is EXACTLY what we need. If you don't like it, the feel free not to read the boards over here. I doubt you were forced to read these posts. I'll be the first to admit that some people go to far in disparaging TCU, but that's just how rivalry goes. Personally, I like the Frogs. Some of my best friends graduated from TCU. And I don't post anything on here that I wouldn't tell them in person.
Assuming we do have a successful season, even then it won't have been "overnight", as you have alluded to. It's been twenty years and counting.

The sentence quoted in the above post could be interpreted to mean that several individuals that that post on your board collectively do not like what people on our board are saying. It makes no reference to which board these "comments" were posted. Everyone's reading comprehension appears adequate.

So for the Frogs that want to understand why at least this SMU alum can't stand TCU football, here's a quick story. Once TCU started winning consistently, there were players on the football team that started acted like they were better than everyone else.
The first time I really noticed this was in the first Fort Worth Bowl when TCU played Boise State. My wife and I actually started the game off by pulling for TCU. By the end of the game, we wanted Boise State to win because the TCU players were running their shoulders into the Boise State players as they walked across the field, taunting them after they made very forgettable tackles, etc. They were basically acting like thugs. I also saw this kind of attitude in games against us shortly after that.
I can say that the last 2 times we have played you guys, it doesn't seem that any of your players have exhibited this same kind of behavior. I guess that's what beating you the week after you knocked of OU will do for you. But by that time, the damage has already been done, and I find it very hard to wish good things for your team. It also didn't help when your head coach went on all those rants about why TCU should be in a BCS bowl when you weren't playing a very tough schedule.
I will leave you with this - I, for one, will not curtail my excitement for us finally getting a head coach who is a winner just because some TCU fans or anyone else for that matter might be annoyed by it. Besides, it's not worth my time to even read a TCU board, much less post on it.
