We need some more quality ballers, but Rhodes/TK/ & Nyakundi, coupled with Dubois, Otis & the very underrated Justin Haynes, can be solid. Still need some more help, but its not that doom & gloom. Some young talent in the system. Clarke may have some skills, but I can't get a read on him.
we'll see dude. Papa is promising...otherwise, don't get ahead of yourself. Yippee - 8pt and 7pts.

Do you think last year's group wins this game over UCF? I don't. They were already on their way to spiraling into oblivion. The shine had come off that puff record.

good question - but least years group wouldn't have lost to the cupcakes in the NC.
Very happy for the win! I'll eat my words anyday for a win.

8 & 7 points are legit numbers for freshman and show promise. Its not really debatable. Pretty much any coach will tell you, if your freshman are averaging 30 plus, you have a nice class.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones

If you've always got two or three freshmen in the game, of course they are going to score. Otherwise, who is? Fall - who maybe takes 6-8 shots a game. If this was a better team and you still had freshmen scoring 8 points a game, then your point would have more merit. Papa is a legit talent, and the others may very well end up being good players, but to say the future is bright because we have a couple of freshmen scoring 8 points a game on this team, is very debatable.

I just heard a commercial about foundation repairs & it made me think of this.
Any better read on Clarke yet? When did you see the underrated Haynes play? Why is he underrated?
Also, regarding previous posts, which coach or coaches are you quoting?
Its not about doom & gloom, its about quality, winning basketball.
I will agree with your quote, "we need some quality ballers". Alot of them !

To be honest, Papa has the aggressive, scoring attitude to be the go to guy, when he wants to be. I also see it in Malone, I don't think he gets enough credit. That guy never gives up on a play, and hes not afraid to take shots. Also look for Walker to find his game, that kid can be a leader, if not a scorer, in the future.

ok but Jon Killen is a great leader, great guy and occasional big scorer right now. It takes more than that to lead an NCAA tournament caliber team. Isn't that still the goal? Its gonna require real point guard TRUE ABILITY (vision, passing ability, quicks, blow by speed and ability to penetrate, defensive toughness on the ball, etc), a little time for development and leadership qualities. Gotta have all three attributes in a point guard if this program is going to go anywhere.

oh and I agree with you about Papa, the key issue being "when he wants to be". Definitely see a lack of consistency in focus and energy. I would dismiss that if he was a young freshman in the true sense, but he is an relatively older frosh having been to prep school. same thing must be said about Walker when you are considering how much upside there really is.
