Question for Stallion about Riley DodgeStallion,
I saw your Area Top 100 in the Morning News and I've been wanting to ask you this for awhile. I know that Rivals has been listing QB Riley Dodge as an "athlete" on all their lists for whatever reason. But I was wondering why you don't list him as a QB on your list. Do you not consider him to be a QB? From what I've seen of him both on TV and the couple of games I've seen in person at Texas Stadium, he's clearly the top QB prospect in the area and right up there with Andrew Luck in the state. Don't you have the authority to make him a QB on your list? As an "athlete", i.e. WR or DB, he doesn't seem to merit a #17 ranking in the area, but as a QB he certainly does. I think when Rivals ranks a QB like that as an "athlete" it brings into question their credibility. And yet, they list Copperas Cove's Robert Griffin as a QB when there's very little chance he'll ever play QB at Baylor, unless it's in some sort of direct snap situation....just wondering. thanks
I'm sorry. According to the Morning News, their Area Top 100 is "compiled by SportsDay's Stallion in consultation with Rivals.com"....actually it says "in consulation with Rivals.com".
if this is a different Stallion, my apologies.
if you think Riley Dodge is TOO SLOW to play WR or DB, you obviously have never seen him play!
but clearly, first and foremost, he is a QB....that's why I wonder why Rivals (and Stallion) insists on listing him as an athlete. Obviously, he is going to play QB at North Texas and, obviously, he is a better QB than any of those listed on the Area Top 100. I just think it takes away from the validity of your list when you have such a glaring omission from the QB list. It makes me question other aspects of the list.
Dodge is listed by RIVALS-as an Athlete because different schools are recruiting him at different positions. UT recruited him as a receiver where he played as a Sophmore behind Chase Daniel. He decided to change his commitment to NTSU because he wanted to play QB with his father.
I hope that kid makes it to the pros, because the NTSU degree isn't exactly a UT degree...good luck kid, and watch your blind side
Can't recall where. Rivals does have him at 4.67 http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=48938&Sport=1 Could be an old time tho. If UT was considering him at receiver, then his time would have to be faster than that.
ESPN on Riley Dodge.
Give Riley Dodge three more inches and we could be talking about one of the more coveted quarterback prospects in the country. His accuracy, athleticism and improvisation when the original play breaks down are his better attributes. This kid is a competitor with the football intelligence and mechanics you would expect from a coach's son. Quick release, touch and ability to make plays with his legs should allow him to compete right away for snaps in an offense similar to what he ran for four years at Southlake Carroll, three under his father's tutelage. Dodge will face some stiff competition in sophomore quarterback Giovanni Vizza, who showed some promise as a true freshman. Several recruits mentioned on the Pony list are discussed (Hawaii) in this same article. Class of 2008 overview - Best of non-BCS & Independants http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiti ... id=3199746
