Drewery made first-team all-state (private schools) in Virginia.

I was going to say that as well. Virginia papers keep them separate for All-State purposes. But there are some excellent private football programs in Virginia with the Preps (Hargrave, Fork Union, Massanutten Military Academies) as well as the Catholic Schools (O'Connell, St. Benedictine, Paul VI, and Ireton) and the other schools like Woodbury Forest, Episcopal, Flint Hill, St. Stephens-St. Agnes, Christ Church, and St. Christophers. All-State Private in Virginia is not an easy designation to get.

You are correct on everything except PVI. That school is absolutely, completely, totally, woefully dreadful at football. Good friend of mine who's at the Naval Academy now was their starting punter and...right tackle. Not playing up at Annapolis but I've been to plenty of PVI games and their record wound up like well, ours did an awful lot.

I know I must sound like some nit picking jerk, and I don't want to seem that way, but in my experiences they have been atrocious.

I imagine E. J. was probably one of the bright spots one the team.

How does a guy this big and quick slip through the cracks of the major east coast schools?
