After weeks of inactivity (there's a 70-day layoff in there somewhere), SMU is finally starting to put together a recruiting class. Now that June Jones is on board and has had time to hit the recruiting trail, the Mustangs have finally (like, the last DI institution in Texas) reached double-digit numbers in commitments. After securing both Lufkin OL Josh Emshoff and Sheridan (Ark.) ATH Bryce Lunday on Tuesday, Jones received verbals from a few more guys, including DCTF's All-Texas High School First Team utility man Quincey Whittington, a RB from Cuero. Whittington isn't that large, but he manages to put up big numbers week in and week out because of his diversified skill set - in 2007, he rushed for more than 1,900 yards and 26 touchdowns, posted 748 receiving yards and caught five touchdowns and tacked on 618 return yards for good measure. An accomplished DB as well, June Jones could do plenty of different things with Whittington.
But the Mustangs have also looked out-of-state as well, and in addition to Lunday (Arkansas), SMU is getting a 6-6 WR from Virginia (E.J. Drewery), a LB from Michigan (Zach Line), an OL from California (Evan Huahulu) and running backs from both Mississippi (B.J. Lee) and New Jersey (Keith Robinson). All of these guys were offensive talents in high school, so its pretty obvious that Jones' reputation is preceding him along the recruiting trail. All the news isn't good however, because the Mustangs (or June Jones, more specifically) look to have missed out on 6-5 QB Kevin Craft, who had considered both Hawaii and SMU before deciding on UCLA.

Other than the fact that Line is from Oxford, MISSISSIPPI, Huahulu is playing DEFENSIVE tackle and Robinson is playing CORNERBACK, they seem to have covered things pretty well.

Line is from Michigan.
A most welcome addition to the Foreign Legion.

Stallion, it was be rewarding to actually have recruits to discuss in advance of signing day. Recruits of interest, who have other possibilities, and will, presumably, be contributors quickly.

I'm lost. Are you saying we had no one to discuss in advance to signing day prior to Jones? If you are, then I have to disagree.
