Taken from another site...Rumor is; Ath Cole Loftin from Aledo has decommitted from Utah and is headed to the hilltop as another speedy WR. JJ is rolling!
Saw him play a bit in the Aledo game that was on TXA early in the season...looked like a very good athlete.
I've seen this kid a bunch of times over the past two years. He's closer to 5-11 and 175. Took Aledo to the 4A state semifinals the last two years before they lost to Copperas Cove each year. Here's what you're getting: 1. A great athlete who is elusive, has great vision and pretty strong because on many occasions he broke tackles. 2. Was the QB at Aledo for the past 2 years because of his athleticism. He will not be a QB for us. His left-handed throwing motion improved from his junior to senior year but nothing great. I thought Aledo depended too much on him to win games. 3. Played QB, WR and DB for the Bearcats and returned kickoffs. I think he had about 3-4 INTs as well. 4. When he played WR -- Aledo would sometimes play 2-3 QBs in the game -- he was fearless going across the middle. He also made several acrobatic leaping receptions. Nose for the football, 5. Runs a 4.5 40. Bottom line: This kid is legit. A great competitor and most importantly, loves the game. Very good baseball player. He was the MVP of his district last year. But loves football more. And the reason he was a "strong" commitment to Utah was because nobody in the area even looked at him seriously. He wanted to stay in this area. I never could figure out why we weren't. IMO, he should be 3 stars -- whatever that crappy system means -- because you don't find many winners. Cole Loftin is a winner. Get fired up folks. This kid is good. Heck, Sidelines knows about him because he's seen him as well.
interesting video-I'm surprisingly impressed with his speed and acceleration as he runs away from many on the video. Not sure he's a 4.4 guy but he's got decent size and speed for CUSA. Looks like one of those BYU kids that burn you and wonder how. Maybe he is our Danny Amendola

Loftin named APC MVP
Matt DeWalt [email protected] Aledo Bearcats quarterback Cole Loftin is not the biggest or fastest player on the roster, but he was certainly the most productive during the 2007 season, making him the 2007 Weatherford Democrat All-Parker County Team MVP. The senior quarterback did most of his damage with his legs, gaining 1,559 yards on 209 attempts with 21 touchdowns. Loftin averaged 7.46 yards per carry and 111.4 yards per game. He also made plays with his arm. Loftin completed 78-of-128 pass attempts for 1,157 yards with 12 touchdowns and just two interceptions. When Loftin was running or throwing the ball on offense, he was catching it. Loftin hauled in 14 passes for 327 yards and three touchdowns. He also found time to help out on defense and special teams. Loftin recorded 17 tackles and grabbed four interceptions on defense. He also recorded eight punt returns for 147 yards and a touchdown and eight kick returns for 114 yards.
