to anyone who asked "this must be a joke, right?"...you should be banned from the recruiting board immediately. If you do NOT know who Pryor is (i.e, the #1 recruit in the country, the reason RRod has taken so much heat b/c he recruited him to Michigan before he took the job), why are you even on this forum?? check rivals or scout once in your lifetime.

i may seem harsh, but c'mon..as a casual observer, you should know the #1 recruit in the country. i love my alma mater, but are smu fans really this football-dumb? if this was on any other mesage board, everyone would know a.) who we were talking about, and b.) that it wasn't true.

geeeesh.

I guess that was kinda my point in making the post....we are so off the radar in recruiting that the average SMU fan has no idea who the number one recruit in the nation is. That a person who checks the recruiting section of the fan site for their school has never heard of the number one recruit in the nation is a good example of where we are.

In 1981, if there were a web and a rivals, we would have had a top 10 class

I think ponyinNC might have been slightly a tad harsh.... but his point is true.

Why the hell would I need or want to know who any of the top 100 in the nation are? Until Jones got here, we had zero chance of getting any of them, and this late in the game, we still have zero chance. You may find it entertaining to scour the national top 100 to see who's going to Texas or Ohio State or LSU or USC, but I'm not going to waste my time there. I spend enough time on this board. :roll:

As an aside, i'm sure you'd feel like a moron if we were to discuss the NBA, NHL, NFL or MLB (after all, you are in North Carolina), but college football ranks about 5th or 6th on my interest level in years like this when we lose 10 games, and top 10 national recruits are not even on the radar because they aren't headed here.

the fact that anyone believed dwan amazes me, and i really cant believe that no one knows who pryor is... serach him on youtube and tell me if you think he is coming to SMU? #1 football player in the country and one of the top BB recruits in the country :roll:

This program has pretty much been dead since the mid 80s, Dwan. Yea, we are getting off the radar guys, but its been 2 weeks and all the big timers, are pretty much committed. Give the locals some slack. Next year, people will be more on top of recruiting, it just so happens that this year it was pretty much written off. You know, a 70+ day coaching search tends to do stuff like that.

BTW\, I've seen Pryor play hoops on more then a few occasions and his future is just as bright in basketball. The kid is a sick sick athlete.

No, Pryor has never heard of SMU, seriously. He's the best player in the country in football and Top 25 in basketball. It was a bad joke.

Where do we get off with all of the B/S egos? This board is "for fun" and to enlighten ALL SMU fans. Yes, some are recruiting gurus and we appreciate their educating the rest of us. But some are novices, just starting to learn what is going on. And the rest of us are somewhere in between.

You gurus, give the rest a break and have a good laugh at the novices naivete', but there should be no room, IMHO, for arrogance or demeaning put downs.
