If Givens could have just caught that ball his Freshman year it might have been an entirely different career at SMU for him.
Now I'm no saying a single play should make or break somebody, but if he catches it takes 80 or 90 yards (whatever it was) for the TD.... it could have kick started some positive mo for him. However I think the drop began a trend of negative momentum.

What happened to Bradley Haynes... He was supposed to be good and I never heard anything about him. Anyone know what happened?

He was a freshman last season and redshirted I believe, as is common with freshman. Nothing happened and he is still supposed to be good.

If we put him on the field with Taylor Thompson and Vincent Chase, Willis would have some tall targets to hit next year.

other than for the fact that Thompson will be playing DE and Vincent Chase probably OT-I 'd say you are 100% correct. Ever watched a Hawaii game? BTW the signing of all the Smurfs should end any real dispute that Jones intends to play the same 4 Wide Receiver offense they did at Hawaii-those guys only make sense in a Run and Shoot with 2 inside receivers w/o a TE.

Thompson was recruited as DE not a TE to my understanding. JJ offense does not use TE's. More like 6'6" E. J. Drewery on one side and Haynes on the other with 2 under 6 foot slots in between.

Either way I am glad that we have some size out there.

Don't forget about Emmanuel Sanders, my friend.

that's right-and if you check you'd find that not a single one had any offer fron a Division 1A school when they committed to SMU which is probably why we haven't recruited out of state very often.

still looking at SMU ? I realize DE recruit Taylor Thompson and LB/DE Alex Odiari, if he signs, could help our DL next year. I hear Odiari has gained some weight yet is still real fast. However, I would feel alot better about our chances of improvement on defense if we could sign a big quick JUCO DT and a freshman also.

Thompson is playing DE. Chase will play ... OT? Somewhere on defense? Who knows. Put Haynes out there with Drewery and Pat Fleming and you've got some nice targets.
