But I thought they couldn't speak for themselves since they exclude transfers.

SMU has only 1 Division 1A Transfer-another Robieske who was never rated and was going to be grayshirt so technically isn't a transfer. As it appears today, it wouldn't be in SMU favor to include such a transfer analysis in comparison to the other schools in our division, conference and schedule who generally load up many more highly rated transfers. But we too shall see about that so I no longer have to do a Model analysis

I understand what you're saying, but others may or may not be taking transfers. So our ranking doesn't speak for itself any more than Hawaii's has spoken for itself in the recent past with its thirty-something transfers. Look, I'm not wanting to inflate our ranking -- I just want to be able to compare how we did to others and to how we've done in the past. You've convinced me that that's just not possible unless you take into consideration transfers too. And that doesn't mention the politics of star inflation and deflation that's occurring entirely apart from a kid's actual abilities.

Victor Jones immediately becomes the highest rated recruit on the board grading out at a 76 per ESPN. If we get T. Thompson he would grade out at 75. That would give SMU 4 players that grade out in the 70's. That would be great.

that's why I here to explain how UTEP got 408 yards Total Offense from two players in the SMU game who never appeared on the Rivals UTEP commitment list etc. I've always stated that Rivals does not account for that tactic so common among our opponents who end up beating us. Tulsa added at least 1 Four Star and another very high Three star Division 1A Transfer from Tennesse and another from Arkansas. Rivals gives Tulsa no credit for such transfers in its team recruiting rankings but from experience we know they matter-therefore the Final Rivals Team Rankings are not the final word on a teams talent-a consistent position I have taken for years

He is listed No. 49 in the DMN's Area Top 100 list.

And the politics of stars changing on players -- for the good or bad -- is a political process and will always be political process. I realize that these ratings are attempting to be honest but they are subjective and influenced by those writer's connections with their schools and how the case is made.

You got too many recruiting services out there, too many self-proclaimed experts, too many cases where these experts are too chummy with schools and too many stories where the flaws in their ratings have been exposed.

The problem is that once these kids get "labeled", they're cooked.

SMU has had 8-10 players upgraded in recent years-I've documented each one-complaining about that too? Didn't know SMU had so much political clout at Rivals. Of course players are upgraded in January-that way the services can give appropriate credit to the schools who get players who were in fact that most highly recruited. Duh!

The SMU angle is not where I'm going with this. Duh! But unlike you, I spend my money wisely and not to some bogus recruiting

Hey, how did "5-Star guy" Xavier Lee work out at Florida State? Oh, that's right he sucked. OVER-RATED. But because Bobby and co. were so far up Bobby Bowden's [deleted], they gladly put an inside rating on that kid. THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!

My point is these seem to me to contradict.

I also noticed that Victor was on Dave Campbell's 2007 Texas Football Magazine's second team defense. Thompson was on their first team offense. This is the first time in a long time that we have had two guys commit to us that made this high on their pre-season lists. Given that Jones only had 3 weeks to bring this class in, I am already looking forward to next year when he will have a full season to recruit this state! :D :D :D

How come I don't see that on either MM or DMN?

I don't think they contradict. When looking at SMU's class, you can work back with the transfers, and see where they where when they were originally signed. Where Rivals comes up very short is in comparing multiple recruiting classes. If you just look at the team ranking, it doesn't give you the full picture. You would have to dig deeper in each class you're trying to compare.

So far Rivals doesn't have Jones committed to SMU. What's up with that. We finally get a single 3-star and we are happy??? Suppose that's the right direction. Where is the recruiting???? Let's go!!!
