I believe that PB had 7 recruits committed. I think two decommitted on their own and I only know of one whose offer was taken back. So based upon that, we have retained four. Of course I may have missed other announcements that indicated others decommitted or had their offers taken back. I'm sure someone will correct me if I have screwed up on this.
I am? Oh, I didn't know that. Well, thanks pointing that out. I made simple observation. It had nothing to do with grading on a curve. And when you get started this late in recruiting, you're getting what's left. This isn't that hard to follow. I would surmize if you get 1 or 2 of these to pan out. You even said that you needed 4-5 years to judge a coach and how good he really is and used Dave Wannstedt as an example. June Jones has been here about 3 weeks and you're already passing false judgment. I pray for the day you think before you write. You're such a fraud.
as long as you admit that you are grading on the sunshine curve then I got no problem. But I'm a little confused how you could possibly claim that SMU's offensive line recruits have even good size. No they really don't. You made the point which I think is ridiculous. SMU's is not recruiting what could be even remotely considered quality Division 1A sized linemen.
Stallion, You are correct about linemen size but BETTER is BETTER.
Question, When was the last time you were happy? I hope you like your occupation, you seem well suited for it. Not a flame but an observation. GO MUSTANGS Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
I'm not just making this up:
Out of all Texas OTs listed in Rivals 21 out of 23 were 6-4 or bigger. 17 out of 23 were 6-5 or bigger. I'm not convinced the other two kids who are 6-3 don't move inside for college. Out of 32 Texas OGs listed in Rivals 28 out 32 were 6-3 or above. 16 were 6-4 and above. The other kids smaller than 6-3 4 signed with Arkansas St., Louisiana Monroe, UH and OSU. Again, I'm not convinced that the short kids down move to Center where height isn't as important.
OK, thanks! And I'll continue to accuse you of attacking this Jones class when you know the reality of this recruiting season and that you basically keep changing the argument to fit your agenda. AN ABSOLUTE FRAUD!!
I agree that it is preferable to have the prototype 6'5 OT or 6'4 G but does the height really matter if it is an inch here or there?
Look at Chase Daniel, no way he is supposed to do what he did last year at that height. He is a few inches under ideal height...but he made it work. We need to stop worrying about measurements because there are too many examples out there of people that are too short that are amazing or that were the perfect speciman that didn't work out
Sure, sure. But all things being equal, you take the guy who is 6'7 330.
I think were you get in trouble -- a good example being last year's defense -- is when you're small across the board. Small linebackers weren't that big of a deal two years ago when you had Haywood and Bonds to plug up the middle. But when we lost those guys... We'll we just got ran over. On the other side of the fence. At least this year's OL recruits really look like linemen and there are a bunch of them. "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Of those returning:
OT JT Brooks is 6-5. OG Josh LeRibeus is 6-4. OG Sean Lobo is 6-3. OT Ross Nigh is 6-5. OG Tommy Poynter is 6-4. OT Chase Smith is 6-4. C/OG Bryce Tennison is 6-3. OG/OT Kelly Turner is 6-3. Of the newcomers: OT (?) Jimmy Chase is 6-3. OG (?) Andrew Robiskie is 6-3. OT (?) Josh Emshoff is 6-4. OT (?) Zach Boyd is 6-4. OG (?) Jordan Free is 6-3. OG (?) Blake McJunkin is 6-3. OT (?) Blaize Foltz (if he joins us) is 6-4. Not Stonehenge, perhaps, but let's not suggest that TCU is rolling out purple versions of Flozell Adams and Leonard Davis while we're trying to get by with the Little Rascals on our offensive line.
Suggested reading: I believe every year the DMN comes out w/ a review of the class 5 years before.. They talk about SMU, Baylor, UT, TAMU, TECH, UNT (maybe Hou).. They review the recruiting class.. I think it will be out later this week, usually a few days after signing day coverage. The most interesting part of the article are "THE BUSTS" For ex: Marcus Mosely, State or National? top 100 recruit did absolutely nothing at SMU.. Sneezy Beltran, National top 100 recruit out of Abilene high, two time all state RB, never played a down at Texas. Graduated in 2000 w/ me (i remember b/c he was on the cover of Texas Monthly's tribute to high school football that august.) I don't care about the size of the guys, I don't care what their Rival rankings are.. June Jones has been evaluating talent for about 25+ yrs and for anyone to critisize (Stallion) based on High School recruiting is ludicrous. How about just being happy that we are getting a full class and that almost half are out of state.. that is impressive.
Really? I think one of the old of state kids had a D1A offer. Hey its fine to be all fired up about a new coach but please keep the ridiculous cheerleading bs within reason. I could line up a Class of 25 kids without D1A offers. The reality is that on paper this is the weakest recruiting class in years. Now if you want to claim its the best that could be expected that's a different issue. Probably some legitimacy to that argument. But seriously, claiming how neato our recruiting class is when we are out recruiting Robert Morris, Alcorn St. -did we get the guy who was considering Stony Brook. Cold hard fact-is about half our guys had no legitimate D1A offers 2 weeks ago.
It's the only way to look at this class. For you to claim that its the weakest in years is probably one of the dumbest things you've ever written. Of course it is, Sherlock. The damn coach was named less then a month before national signing day and got started in mid-January. This is making chicken salad out of chicken soup. The fact he got a couple of ringers in Loftin and Taylor Thompson, Victor Jones and that JUCO DB from California is a little coup. If he gets 5-6 kids out of this group to be legitimate contributors, then it would be miraculous. For you to judge his recruiting against everybody in this conference or for that matter Larry Fedora who had a good 3-4 week start on him, is absurd. You only phrase things you want to fit your argument. That's what you're all about and what you'll always be about. It would be in your best interest to look at how recruiting evolves this spring and summer. And I have also written that the recruiting is not about this year, it's about what happens in the May evaluation period. For the love of god, man. Wake up! AND GO WATCH A HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME IN PERSON THIS FALL AND STOP TROLLING EVERYBODY'S MESSAGE BOARDS.
