A few mental notes from this event.
1. There will be a couple of grey shirts but no indication who they are.
2. The starting QB job is wide open. The best qb for his system will start regardless of class. He was very high on Bo Mitchell and Braden Smith.
3. Two more coaches by this weekend. He said we would like them.
4. In discussing each player, he mentioned several who he thought would have a chance to contribute next year, including Deyon McElroy who he said would probably start. He also discussed Odiari's problems at OSU and that he and his staff had done a lot of research on him before the offer.

Pretty lack luster report. No more excitement than this, what's up?? Was everybody excited or what?? Where is the final list? Is there one?
TCU and UNT posted a lot of excitement. They smoked us, huh?

Just posting information from the event that some may be interested in.. If you need excitement, you should have joined the MC and gone to the event. Standing room only. You sound like a troll.

Relax, you know we all just don't care around here.
-The event was very well attended, large ballroom in the Radisson which was quite full, standing room only.
-All of the coaches on staff were there, and each was introduced personally by Coach Jones, including his personal office assistant Terry. For the recruits, on several occasions, Coach Jones gave credit to the assistant coaches who landed each recruit, such as Rheinebold and McKnight.
-Jones got a great reception, as would be expected, a standing ovation on several instances.
-Brad Sutton, Scott Farrell, Ted Gangi, and Randy Ross were all in attendance as well.
-The public addresser for the event was the new PA announcer for the basketball program.
-Highlight clips on all of the recruits after Coach Jones talked about each one specifically.
-Coach Jones continues to show ample confidence in his coaches, his system, the players he recruited and exactly what they will do, as well as his plan and ability to succeed here at SMU. This for me is the most refreshing part, that Coach Jones is here and knows exactly how he is going to win.
-Coach speak was nearly an exact re-hash of the press conference earlier today at 2:30.
-Most of those in attendance probably don't find themselves on ponyfans much, but people sure seem ready to win around here.
-Steve Orsini was not in attendance, as he is with the basketball team in Memphis tonight, Mike Vaught was there.

Tonight was the first time I've attended the signing day event. I will have to say that I was impressed with JJ. Glad I went.

As a mom I would like to know what Coach Jones had to say about my son, Evan Huahulu, as he was unable to mention him at the PC because our NLI was not faxed in time due to us being in California and on pacific time. Sure wish we could have been at the event.

To be completely honest, I did not pay much attention at all to what Coach Jones said about each recruit since I had listened to a nearly verbatim speech several hours earlier, where he mentioned at the end that there is a recruit I can't talk about who had a little bit of trouble getting his letter in due to a timing conflict.

JJ spoke very favorably about Evan. He talked about his back ground and indicated he had the potential to be a great player for the Ponies. We are all extremely pleased Evan chose to be Mustang.

Troll? No,not hardly. Thanks, I appreciate it. I would love to have gone to the event but couldn't because of work. This site is where I get most of my news and information. I was just hoping for some more enthusiasm. Go to their sites and see for yourself.

Dream on. Its down to Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and Oregon for your dream recruit. Unfortunately SMU is not in the mix. Reportedly, his Dad favors Penn State and he may now be leading that way. However, a lot of his friends are going to Ohio State so who knows?
The recruit is Evan Huahulu, I believe that had the conflict with his LOI because of a signing ceremony at his school in CA and the time differential compared to the Central Time Zone.

65mustang, not sure what else you are looking for, because the board has been buzzing all day long. If you didn't see the final list, it's posted at smumustangs.com. Very nice PDF that you can download with a brief description on each player.
