Dear Ponymama:
JJ is very happy to have your son at SMU. He talked about the wrestling and his ability, balance, strength and the likelyhood of some further growth. PS, I was a wrestler and am pumped up to see your son come to SMU. Please have him prepare to study his books and I hope to see him on the field soon. GSS Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Thanks Big Hoss! I'm not as savvy as you guys on most of this stuff and I get a little anxious for good or great news! My bad.
I don't remember the exact words but he was quite complimentary of Evan's potential, mentioned that he was a wrestler and a good kid. Evan looked good in his highlight video. ![]() Pony Up!
Is BUS happy
Thanks for the report/rundown of tonight's event. I was going to attend but a last minute family emergency prevented it. Looking forward to the Red v Blue game in the spring!
Thanks for the feedback.....You've made this mom very happy

Re: MUstang Club Signing Day EventSorry you weren't able to make it to the event. For starters, Everyone was excited that Coach Jones was here. As far as an exciting presentation...Coach Jones is pretty much all business...not a chearleader. He discussed each recruit individually describing what they saw that they liked about the recruit and what they thought the recruit's potential was including possibly future NFL possibilities in a few instances. There was at least one player recommended to him by an NFL coach that he knows. His connections with current NFL coaches could be a good resource in future years too. The information you will find on line for these guys will probably be pretty cut and dry bio and stats...except for the Recruiting Roundup on Ponyfans.com which should be up soon. Unfortunately for you most of us didn't tape the presentation and therefore will not be able to relay all the personal evaluations Jones gave. The 2008 Class was pretty good considering it was put together in less than three weeks and at the end of the recruiting season. Is it a class we will do back flips over? No, but it is probably one of the better classes we have gotten in awhile. We basically got four 3 stars and the rest were mid to high 2 stars. I personally expect a big leap upward next year. They recieved over 2000 tapes and DVDs which Jones humbly attributed to SMU's reputation and traditions, but we all know it was because of who he is. You can tell Jones knows what he is looking for and he is always mentally referencing the type of guys he coached in the pros and as such sees things in some of these players others might not. This is definitely not a guy starting his first HC gig. I have a warm fuzzy feeling things are really on the way up...finally.

You and your son have made PonyFans very happy! ![]() /No Hate. Just Facts. Occasional sarcasm.
he spoke highly of Evan. Talked about his wrestling, and that wrestlers made for good linemen b/c of their balance. Said that when Evan came in for his visit he weighed 283 on Friday b/c of just finishing a wrestling event, and that he weighed 305 by the time he left on Sunday. Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally
LOL, I think the scales at SMU and Servite High School differ.....Evan was very worried because he weighed so much at SMU and had the league finals coming up. When he got home he ran until he couldn't run any more and was two pounds under for the match. I'm still wondering if it could be possible for him to drop over 15 lbs in a couple days, I still think it's the scales ![]()
One seems to help the other. ![]() All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
That's my story. They are all set very high here in Arkansas. I just subtract 50 lbs. from whatever they say. Then I am only obese rather than morbidly obese. ![]() All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
