JJ had this to say about Whittington:

"I project him as a slot for us primarily. But I probably will use him at running back some, too, because when you see him catch the football and do something with it, you'll agree that it'd be a good decision to get the ball in his hands as many times as you can."

We have 3 solid RBs coming back from last season: Mapps, Martin, and Butler. Beyond that, we brought in a couple guys in this class that played RB in high school, but whom JJ recruited as a slot receiver. That position is one of the least of my worries for next year.

didn't say i was very worried about it, but it seems strange for such a huge class, even for a run and shoot system. Ah, back to the old Chuck and Duck offense. good times. sure beats the veer bone. dodged that bullet.

Is this kid any relation to the great Arthur Whittington of late 70's SMU fame? I'll never forget Whittington taking the opening kickoff against tcu to the house at the cotton Bowl. 1978 or so?

Plus Shankel was moved to RB by Bennett, et.al. Who knows if he will stay there but I heard he looked really good there.

running backs may be useful for a 4th and 1 play - should we ever find ourselves in that situation

Demyron sweep to the outside. It was our bread and butter play.

The next time DeMyron tries to tippy toe outside....he needs to be benched for good. Some of the former coaches will tell you, that he has a ton of talent, but the heart and toughness, of a rabbit. I used to be a big fan of his, but, I have jumped off the D-Train.
