The transfer from G. Tech..now that he has been here several weeks, anybody seen him practice? Is he ripping it up?
his name is Mohamed Faye, and from what I have read in Doh's blog is that he has really helped raise the intensity in practice. I think he is going to dominate next year, and I really can't wait to have a true athletic swing man to run the floor.
I can't wait to see him wreck shop next year. I think it will be awesome.
Sir, shooting-star, sir.

One of the things I have picked up re: this young man is he appears to be very enthusiastic & leader.
I don't know if he can dominate but he sure will be a welcome addition to conference play next year. I'll settle for 14 pts & 8 boards per game.
There is a left handed pg in Mesquite named Vertail Vaughns. He's a junior. I have seen him play a couple of times & I think he is going to develop into a legit D1 pg. He can handle the rock & create his own shot & he's explosive to the basketball (no more mention of "to the hole" by me anymore ![]()
Did that get deleted? I bet it did. Sir, shooting-star, sir.

Seriously? "Vertail"?
I've peeked in on practice, and in my uneducated opinion, Faye is exceedingly impressive. He's tall (6'8"? 6'9"?) and has absurdly long arms. He's fast and handles the ball well for a big guy, and plays low to the ground when he's sailing up the floor. Didn't get enough of a look at his outside shooting to get a feel for how consistent he is, but the kid has a very smooth, fluid motion. He hit something like 3 of 5 outside jumpers that I saw. What caught me off-guard, though, was his speed - kid can get up the floor in a hurry, and I can't think of a single guy in the conference with his size and speed, so it makes me wonder about defending him in transition. Maybe the guy at Memphis (whose name I forget at the moment), but he looks to me like a guy who can cause some real matchup issues for other teams. Can't wait to see this guy play for the Ponies, especially since he won't be a wide-eyed freshman when he starts - he'll already have a semester of practice under him so he'll know exactly what Coach Doherty expects of him. Again, I'm no coach, but I think he has the potential to be exceptional. Fountain of youth
