It is the beginning of the new SWC. SMU, Rice, TCU, NTSU, Texas State, UTEP, Tulsa, Tulane and Houston.
All schools are within easy travel via automobile or SWAirlines.
Access to local bowls, ie Arm Services bowl, a bowl in houston, a bowl in San Antonio and a bowl in Dallas.
All schools are in major TV markets.
Just send 'da money.

More DI-A schools in texas = bad for us. We need to make sure we are preceived as superior them in every way so we aren't competing with them for recruits!

Why would we include NTSU & TxSt? just curious.
and by "all schools are in major TV markets", i'm assuming you mean "some are in major TV markets"
According to Nielson, of the there are 210 TV Markets. here's where all those cities fall.
DFW = 5
Houston = 10
San Antonio = 37
Austin = 51
New Orleans = 53
Tulsa = 60
El Paso = 98
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

But we were shivering in our britches that they would be joining NTTC in the suckbelt!

The vote passed with 79 percent support. The Board of Regents must now radify the vote, which they will, and the fee will start in the fall. We are on the way.
As far as the "new Southwest Conference" I would love to see it, and by the way Texas State owns the rights to the name Southwest Conference now so I think we would be included LOL.

Your university's lawyers must be pretty damn busy...Google the name 'Southwest Conference' sometime.

I knew a guy who flunked out of SMU so he went to Texas State. They have a nice river to float in San Marcus but I don't know if I would visit for anything else

I know one major reason people come to San Marcos. It's not Dallas.
I hate for my first post on this board to be this, but the majority of you guys on this thread are morons. All the flack over some guy who gave you an insightful look into a new FBS team in the state of Texas and all you guys can do is make stupid remarks. "Again, who cares, blah, blah, blah..." Listen up buddy, if you don't care, don't click on the the thread that is clearly marked Texas State.
I guess it's true what they say. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. SMU is a good school and you can get a fine education there. With that said, there are plenty of idiots from SMU, as I can clearly see just from my short time on this site. Guess a private education can't fix stupid huh?
TxSt might not have a super dominant football team, but at least we can win a conference game. Sheesh.
In about 5 or 6 years SMU will be doing 1 and 1's with Texas State.
See ya around!
