No kidding, this past year, the student section was "full" (it wasn't completely full of students, the idiot cops and security were allowing people who were obviously not students into the student section then it was full for tuition paying students). My girlfriend and I had to sit amongst a bunch of Tech fans, and every time they made a play, scored, etc., the guy sitting next to us would say stuff like, "Hey you rich little s%$, how the f#$% do you like that?!"
We ended up leaving the game early because of this barrage of curses and less than gentlemanly conduct. The thing that made me the maddest was that most of his comments were directed at my girlfriend. I really hope we find a way to beat them at their place!
Those who complain about a problem are simply wasting time they could use to fix it.

Somehow the people out in Tech land think this is okay behavior. After the last game out in Lubbock, I watched the replay of the 10:00 newscast whenever I was back at the hotel. They showed pregame footage of people holding signs that said "Honk if SMU sucks" etc, and the anchor guy said something to the effect of "school spirit is alive and well at Tech." Tech students also got off on chanting "f*** you SMU" during the playing of our alma mater."
Last time I didn't take my son for those reasons. I'm thinking this time I will take him, just so I can have license to be a f$cker right back.

It was bad in Lubbock two years ago. They were the worst fans over the past two years.
You are right. Two years ago, there were 35,000 students on the east side chanting f u SMU.
We returned home telling Tech fans here in Dallas about what we experienced and they said they never have heard that before. After the next home game, the same fans came back saying we were right. They couldn't believe it, and were upset themselves. Failed attempts have been made to get the student section to stop being so rude and insulting. They think that if I pay for a ticket to a game, I have free privilege to say and do anything. It's part of the game.
RGV Pony is right. Police were standing right there, heard and saw everything, and basically did nothing.
The only way to shut them up is to beat them on the field and walk away with a win.
Power to the Ponies. Go JJ!!!

You can question the f you stuff, but i'm sure it's not exclusive to TT. I will say, that the last two times we have played there, I witnessed shoves, punches, and a slap to an old man's head by Tech folks. One of the Mustang Clubs new employees, worked at Tech for years, until just over a year ago. He and I talked about the insane behavior out there just last week, and he said every Tuesday, after a home game, they had meetings to discuss damage control. No joke. I have been to games out there for many years, and it has only been this way...........since Leach arrived, or since they got real good!

the tech fans are horrible. i've been to Lubbock twice for football games. SMU and Nebraska. they are classless all around.
to top it off, their classless travels with them. 3 years ago, my wife (girlfriend at the time) gave a friend of ours a birthday present before the game at our tailgate. nothing big, a purse or something along those lines. I had made the mistake of telling some of my 'friends' who went to TTech that they were welcome at our tailgate. they took that to mean that everyone they knew from lubbock, including all active members of their old fraternity, were welcome.
needless to say, the gift my wife gave to our friend, was stolen, along with 2 of my coolers, and all of our liquor. some TT undergrad actually had the nerve to try to start a fight with me and my friends when i asked him to get up from sitting on MY cooler so I could get one of MY beers.
He got put in his place, along with an old guy with him who tried to fight us too. as i type this, the really funny thing I remember is the old guy who wanted to fight with us only referred to himself as Bigdaddy. I can't believe i didn't make this connection until just now, but i hope it's the same bigdaddy who's been posting on here the last few months, because if it is, i never have to post anything negative about him again. he left our tailgate after starting a fight, with his tail between his legs and grass stains on his backside.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

One of these days a fan (or fans) will get fed up with insults from an opposing team's fans and there will be an 'incident' in the stands that will make national headlines, i.e. Virginia Tech, UT-Austin, Northern Illinois, etc.

Back to the 2008 schedule.
They may be announcing an earlier game than the Texas State game on Sept. 6th.
Once things are finalized we should see a detailed schedule in a few weeks.

Since all the dates for our non-conference games are officially confirmed on the opponent's website(TT is on September 13), I wonder if CUSA is considering moving a conference game to the Labor Day weekend. I hope not. I would rather start with TX State.

Agreed. I want us to have a few games under our belt before we hit conference play.

I can't wait for the TCU game - September football, JJ, The Boulevard, against our hated rival. That should be a fun day.
