A Hillary supporter, I see.
Somehow I doubt that.

I wondered why no one responded to that!
To hawaiisashimi, SMU was founded by the methodist church, but is only loosely affiliated now. (I believe they still hold a non-controlling percentage on the board of trustees.) But it isn't a religious school. In fact, only about 25% of the students are even methodist. There aren't any formal religion classes even offered. (There is a theology school, but I was always under the impression it is a religious studies school, not a seminary.) So, it isn't even a religious school in the sense that Notre Dame or even Creighton or Georgetown are catholic, or that Baylor is baptist. And I certainly never saw much religious happening on campus!
The student population is more republican than most campuses, but it isn't like there are a bunch of evangelicals running around--although I'm sure there's a few. Like any school, the faculty is heavily liberal, but not like it is at Berkley or Yale or anything.

Like you, I choose to ignore the chapel that is so prominently placed on campus and all of those seminary students.

Actually chapel used to be pretty cool when Professor Anderson( ??) would do an organ concert at the end of each service. The pipe organ in that chapel rocks. I went there sometimes if I decided to sleep in and couldn't make it to church on time. You're right SMU is not a religious school and it does not have the rules that a Baylor or Liberty has regarding girls in your room, etc. BTW, I voted for Huckabee. Living in DC, you get to know a lot of people who know a lot of people. And those people who know McCain well, wouldn't vote for him if there were a voting machine in their basement and these are Republicans and ex-POW's. But if in November, I am faced with a choice between McCain and either Hillary or Barak, I'm probably gonna vote for McCain, but I'm going to be physcially ill when I pull the lever.

If something has changed in the last 10 years, then you are correct. SMU has a religious studies department that is separate from Perkins. I minored in it, so I know it was there. Perkins is a theology school, but it is very, very liberal in the theology taught.
SMU is about as religious a school as TCU is, which isn't much besides the name.

McCain is not the guy I want with his finger on the button. He is a little too volatile for my tastes. Ron Paul is my favorite candidate. Shame he can't even get in on the debates. While the comedy factor of Bill Clinton in the White House with no job to do is tempting, I can't vote fore Hillary or Barak.
