Re: JuCo QB headed to Hilltop"They need a good quarterback and they have a good program," Romo said.
Not tryin to be rude or anything hear but Phillips is a good Qb ![]()
Re: JuCo QB headed to HilltopThis guy might be a year older, but Phillips has some sense of timing and familiarity with the receivers, and he's bigger and perhaps faster. I'd say Romo has to take the job away from Phillips, not vice versa.
Either way, the competition should make all of them better. "Mass genocide is the most exhausting activity one can engage in .... next to soccer."

Re: JuCo QB headed to Hilltopthis just makes for healthier competition among the QBs this spring and next fall. If Phillips continues to improve like he did in the few games he played, he's going to be tough to unseat.
Re: JuCo QB headed to HilltopGreat job of recruiting a juco quarterback!!! We got a guy that was choosing between us, Bayor and Division 2 schools. He even commented that SMU was the best school he got an offer from (athletically?). Ha, this is sad and a waist of a scholarship that could have gone to someone else.

Re: JuCo QB headed to HilltopTrolls should at least know how to spell. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: JuCo QB headed to HilltopLearn to spot a misspeak...he obviously meant 1-AA (1 DOUBLE-A). He is the 19 best JUCO QB in the country.
Re: JuCo QB headed to HilltopStallion, with your resources, could you provide a comparison between last years 19th rated JUCO QB and Romo? Who was it, where did he sign, other offers, etc.
Re: JuCo QB headed to HilltopA rather haunting thought crossed my mind as I drove home from work last night.
If Cavan were still here, who would have been the starting QB in 2004? At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: JuCo QB headed to HilltopRichard Bartel and Ashton Nixon were recruited by Larry Kueck because they were decent recruits to run his offense. Since that staff was shelved, so were those 2 QB's chances.
Re: JuCo QB headed to HilltopThe word on Romo:
Tough kid in the Brett Favre mold with good size (6-2, 210). Numbers are not that impressive, but he had a high completion percentage and is a little older because he played some baseball. A lot to like about Romo. If he's as tough as the last Romo we had here, we should be OK. The kid we wanted from Blinn (Dane King) had huge numbers and was second team JC All-America. He's going to Baylor. [ 12-17-2003, 09:54 AM: Message edited by: NYC Pony ]
Re: JuCo QB headed to Hilltopwe need juco offensive and defensive lineman who can contribute immediately
Re: JuCo QB headed to HilltopDane King was Baylor's #1 target at QB.
There was a point when he was still taking visits (SMU and Kansas, I believe) that word got out that BU was also looking at one or more California JC QBs. Obviously, Romo had to be one of them. Incidentally, right after A&M QB Dustin Long announced that he was transferring, A&M offered King and he was contacted by Florida as well.
