Mentioned that our RPI is 50 something... This is pretty good for my tournament desires.
Sir, shooting-star, sir.
Frosh 2005 (TEN YEARS AGO!?!) The original Heavy Metal.
Patton, you're so right about Tulsa. I'm still ticked about both of those losses - especially the one at home. Memphis kicked their butts today. This is a HUGE win - important for us to win the next two games at home and then we're pretty much a lock for second.
Back off about Tulsa. Yes, the losses sucked (I was at both), but in the second one, one of our best players was there after going to her second family funeral in a week, so you know she had to be extremely distracted. We screwed up twice against them, but we're miles better than they are. The whole team was concerned for their teammate the second time around, which undoubtedly had some kind of effect. Stop bringing it up and get behind this team as we beat Rice and UTEP next week.
My prediction: we're winning AT UTEP Feb. 28. I'm going to try to get there for that one.
My bad. Houston lost at Tulane, not Tulsa. But my comments on Tulsa still stand.
That said, I know we have to move beyond those games and the team has done a great job doing that. But I think those two losses really have put us in a no margin for error situation. We really can't afford another loss -- maybe at UTEP is OK but I wouldn't count on it. If you look at our schedule, our big wins are over a Big 12 team in Kansas that won't make the NCAA and TCU, which is playing better but may not make it to the NCAA if they don't win the Mountain West. A&M and UTEP are our only good losses, IMO. The loss at Tech means nothing because the Lady Raiders are awful in Big 12 play. The loss at Manhattan hurts because they are running middle of the pack in their 1-bid league. We just have to keep the pedal to the metal. Hopefully, the committee will take a hard look at how we are doing in our final 10 games.
