What's the real deal with Bennie Rhodes?

Postby RGV Pony » Sun Feb 17, 2008 6:47 pm

Is he hurt (still)? Was he an underperformer talent-wise? Did he land in Doh's doghouse?

He showed some brief signs of promise in limited action early in the season. I'm not attacking the kid...just want to know what's going on.

I thought he had a stress fracture & was a medical reshirt for the year.
Next to Papa, probably our 2nd highest rated recruit. I remember seeing UCLA & Kansas involved in his recruiting.

According to Doh on the show tonight, he is playing on the "white team" in practice. Not sure what the deal is.

I don't know first hand, but the fact was that he was not seeing much playing time before he got hurt and was essentially buried behind Harp, Walker and Malone. Not a good sign if you ask me.

I see him @ the games in the same warmups as the other redshirts so I'm pretty sure we won't be seeing him this season. Its ok for redshirts to practice with the team.

Yeah I have heard he is in the doghouse too. My friends who know him have said, that Big Ben had a little too big of a head upon coming here, he thought he'd be playing in the NBA. They also said that his outside shot needed to be worked on very badly. I hope he gets his head on straight and works on his shot because we could use another athletic SG/SF

LOL @ Doh doghousing a kid that could help. Same w/Nyakundi. MEthinks Doh has a bigger ego then either of those kids by a long shot.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones
