Not inversely proportional... directly proportional. The better the oline is per unit dline skill, the less the QB will have to run.

One of those true freshmen will not be able to handle that job, especially without a spring. I see Willis, Turner and Rhoades competing this spring for the job. If Willis doesn't get the job, for whatever reason, I'd look for him to leave.

Turner-san, we all understand that you adore your son. Please understand that in the future you do not even need to post, as I will simply insert your comments regarding young Turner-san's flawless performance into any quarterback discussion that will ever take place.

Jones will make definite decision where is best for Willis...There are several places for him to play...He will get his chance to impress at quarterback. But he is not transferring because of his being a Junior ...would not be any advantage...We won't have to wait long to see which way Jones go with the quarterback situation....Spring Ball is not long away....Go Mustangs!!!

If he lost his job in spring practice and decided to transfer, he'd still have two years left wherever he ended up, wouldn't he? A guy like Willis could step in and start at any number of d-1aa schools based on his stats at SMU I would think...

I am pro-Turner and have followed him for much of his career. I also know his dad and how he coached Logan. I am not anti-Willis but think he is wasting a great opportunity with his failure to keep the outside stuff from messing up a bright future. He is a good football player and has every right to keep his job. I hope that competition makes all of them better. To me what makes the SMU Mustangs the best team will be the answer and I have no doubt JJ will get it worked out.

It sure didn't sound like you thought Willis should have every right to keep his job back in November:

cowtown wrote:Willis will not be the QB next year, Turner is better right now. Benett rolled the dice and hoped Justin would continue to improve despite all his baggage but it didn't work and it cost him his job. I will say it would have been hard to go with a true freshman with your job on the line. When spring comes around look for a new man behind center. :)

You admit in stating that you have followed him for most of his career that you are not approaching the subject objectively. How can you say you are not anti-Willis when you continue to use words like "failure" to describe him. Admit your agenda and be done with it.

What is all this baggage cowtown is talking about?

Willis had one incident where he punched a guy. At any other school, or if the guy punched had not been gay, Willis probably wouldn't have even been suspended.

What other baggage are you talking about, cowtown?

Additionally, if cowtown is telling the truth in that he is not a parent, is he not then admitting that he is some form of stalker. Is he not admitting to being the potential downfall of his glorious idol Logan Turner in that he will not abandon his quest for his acceptance?

What I think will happen and what he deserves are two different things. I never said he didn't deserve the chance, nor did I call him a failure. I have no "agenda", I just have an opinion. By the way, I do have children, none at SMU but I do have kids. Can we get back to football, spring training is 13 days away.

Sure, when we start spring football, do you still think we should look for a new man behind center, or does Willis have every right to keep his job?
