Texas Football's Review of SMU's ClassPretty good synopsis although they obviously didn't get word that June Jones doesn't use TEs. But in general I think they highlited the best in our class. I think this is done by Randy Rodgers a former UT assistant.

Saw Rogers last night on the fox sw recruiting report. He spent a good portion of the SMU time raving about Quincy W. , which is reflected in this report as well. According to June, he discovered Q (another Q) through Art who he knew from his pro days.
SMU can't go to the Hawai'i Bowl because Conference USA's contract with it ended this past season. The 2008 and 2009 bowl games are WAC versus PAC-10 and they are looking at making this arrangement permanent.
BTW in that Texas Football article they praised Whittington but suggested one of the reasons he wasn't more highly recruited was that he really didn't have great speed at 4.6. Not sure what his best time is but he did run an acceptable 4.56 at the Nike combine last spring which was 12th out of 98 RBs so he ain't exactly slow. I really don't worry if a kid can run a decent time at these events-its when they run like LBs I get worried. Now I could see how a 5-7 kid is not going to be at the top of the recruiting list for a lot of schools but I don't really think a lot of those schools run a Run and Shoot either where a kid like that can excel. It's be nice if he was 5-10 but I don't think it will make much difference in the slot. If he were bigger he probably would have been long gone by the time Jones got the job. (BTW at the same event Chris Banjo ran a 4.70-hopefully he pulled a muscle.)

It will all be about this coaching staff evaluating the abilities of each of the players and determining where they best fit into the new system. They will strengthen up the team based upon where everyone can contribute the most.
According to Coach Jones book, this is exactly what the coaching staff did when they first arrived at Hawaii. Spring ball will be big for everyone.
Why would you assume that? He has said he likes little RBs with a knack for making people miss in open space, and for getting through tight spaces in between the tackles... Not challenging you - just curious about your assumption.
Is Quincey Whittington the son (or any relation) to former SMU RB Arthur Whittington? Both hail from Cuero. (Go Gobblers!)
