So Janielle Dodds needs 14 points and 11 rebounds to break both records - safe to say she'll get both, hopefully by Thursday night.
However, since there are no more home games, how can SMU honor her appropriately for the honor? This is an enormous accomplishment, and she deserves major kudos for it.
Congratulations, Janielle - break both records while leading the Ponies over those frauds from El Paso!
Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!

I expect they will do something for her next season, possibly even jersey retirement (although an NCAA trip would make that much more likely).

There's not even a men's home game after the women get back from this weekend's games at UTEP and Tulane, so they can't trot her out to wave at the crowd there, either.
I hear there's a new library coming to campus. They should call it the Janielle Dodds Library.

Janielle Dodds Named Conference USA Co-Player of the Week
Senior led Mustangs to season sweeps of Rice, Houston
DALLAS (SMU) - Senior post Janielle Dodds, who helped the SMU women's basketball team extend its current winning streak to seven games and helped her team win a school-record 21 regular-season games, was named Conference USA Co-Player of the Week.
For Dodds, a preseason first-team Conference USA selection who shared the honor this week with UTEP guard Jareica Hughes, the honor is her second from the conference this season. She won the award outright Nov. 26.
Dodds averaged 22.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in the Mustangs victories over Rice and Houston. She shot .625 from the floor (15-of-24) from the floor and a sizzling .938 (15-of-16) from the free throw line. She also added three assists, three steals and a pair of blocked shots in the victories.
In the process, Dodds crept closer to the two most high-profile records in SMU history. She now has scored 1,772 points in her career, and needs just 14 to break Karlin Kennedy's SMU record. She also passed Shasta Smothers-Johnson to move into second place all-time with 936 rebounds, and needs just 11 more to break Kennedy's career record.
Dodds and her co-honoree will face off this week in a meeting of the top two teams in Conference USA. SMU (21-6 overall and 11-3 in Conference USA games), which earned votes in the new Associated Press poll released Monday, travels west this week to face Hughes and the No. 19 UTEP Miners (23-2, 14-0) at 7 p.m. (central time) in a clash between two teams jockeying for postseason tournament bids. The Mustangs then close out the regular season at 5 p.m. (central time) Saturday in New Orleans against defending C-USA champion Tulane.
Both games can be seen on CSTV, and also will be carried live on KKGM (1630 AM).

Too early for jersey retirement, that would be a few years off. If it were a home game SMU would call time out so the record could be announced to the crowd, and JD could get an ovation and be presented with the game ball. Since it will be road game, she'll get the game ball after the game. She'll be presented with the ball at the womens bball awards banquet in April, there will be photo's put up in the trophy case, and perhaps she might be recognized during one of the football or basketball games next year. Also, the final "Hoops Happy Hour" for the fans is Monday at Trinity Hall, if the records are broken over the weekend they will most likely do something to recognize her at the party.

Is there a reserved area, or do you just kinda come in and look for people you recognize?

In the past, there has been a table just inside the door where you get a name tag, and right behind them should be 40-50 people you might recognize. Attendance sometimes get fairly big, so there isnt really a reserved area, and you shouldnt have a problem finding the SMU crowd.
