In response to someone else saying that Rhonda should be fired because she hadnt accomplished anything, I outlined her career record here, and then I said this could be her last year if the team didnt perform well, because it was the last year of her contract. Unfortunately, the original thread, which started as a conversation about firing the volleyball coach, has dissapeared, probably deleted at some point. I've discovered recently that alot of threads I posted on seem to dissapear after a few weeks. I apparently have more black horseshoes than I realized.
Yeah...I think I was talking about the person you had responded to.
If I remember correctly, it was the Big 10 fan that was bashing on RR.
Just so that we're clear. I jumped the team and Rhonda after the first Tulsa game -- the one we lost in OT up there -- calling it unacceptable against a team that stunk. I watched Tulsa in person at Arkansas at Thanksgiving.
Now, we're having to do a lot to overcome both of those losses. But I have been supportive of Rhonda's program. I went to 4-5 games this year. Didn't lose any of them.
I called for VB coach Lisa Siefert's ouster -- a stance I maintain. At least Rhonda has been doing something since she's been here.

I wasn't attacking you for your stance, I was merely pointing out your position. While I do not agree with your position, I laud you for standing by your opinions nonetheless.
I am happy for XtC, because this is the biggest fan of womens basketball, that i've ever met!
Thanks Alex. I will readily admit that I am thoroughly enjoying our current success, and I hope we maintain our intensity level into the tournament.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.

Without knowing who you are, I'd guess that you're like most fans - you go to football, maybe some basketball. Chances are, that's it. Do you know any of the circumstances around the volleyball team this year? Injuries? Neither do I, but I don't sit her calling for the job of someone I honestly know nothing about. That might take a little zing out of your "look at me taking a ballsy stance!" approach to this board, but it might increase hte credibility a little.
As for Coach Rompola, it's time for an extension. She has done a great job with this team. She has a lot of talent, but she had to re-incorporate Gross in the rotation this year after she missed last year with an injury, she rallied the team around Wills when she had a couple of deaths in her family, and she has kept the team focused during a very scary time for an ill teammate. She's going to lose a sensational senior class this year, so we can't expect another year like this next year, but the incoming players are supposed to be pretty good, too. Personally, I think we go to the WNIT this year, and that's not a bad thing - the team hasn't been in the postseason in years, and Conference USA's rep probably means only the conference tournament champ will get an NCAA bid. We clearly have the talent to win that and get a bid, but the odds have to favor UTEP (even though we should have beaten them when they were here).
Whichever tournament we make, I'm there. GO MUSTANGS!

I'm not going to get into this on the VB situation again. I made my point last fall and there were those who didn't agree. For brevity's sake, I'm not talking about the 2007 season. I'm looking at the coach's tenure as a whole.
As for Rhonda and the girls, I think every game is a must win if we want to get into the tournament. Would be great to see Dodds break the career scoring record in a win at El Crapo -- godforsaken town that it is.

Totally agree.
Also, nice meeting you and your daughters at the game on Saturday.

Enjoyed the visit as well. Hope they didn't wear you out. They certainly did with me every five minutes when they had to go.
When we went to the games, we were 5-0. Maybe we need to go more next year. I've heard that Rhonda's class for next year is one of her best in her tenure here.

I don't know much about Volleyball or Coach Siefert either except that she's been here 15 years and never been to the ncaa tournament. Top 25 in everything we do except volleyball, she gets a free pass

Yes, Christine Elliott from Kansas will be the post who will probably replace Janielle. She's supposed to be more of an inside player as well, which will be good for this team. And, Samantha Mahnesmith (sp?) from Kennedale is tearing it up in the 3A playoffs. She could see some minutes next year as well.
