I would rather see a few of your meaningless posts go away. Do you ever have anything constructive to say?

What's y'alls plan on D to stop the old Hawai'i offense?
Will the guys you have at quarterback and receiver be able to run the old Hawaii offense? It's all new for both of us I would say. We have an experienced DC finally and are bringing in a lot of speed at defensive back. To be honest our defense is built to deal with conference opponents so it's better at stopping the run but every game plan is different. I am sure we will be able to keep up and there is plenty of film to study to come up with a good gameplan, not just the Rice game but also the Sugar Bowl. I think it's going to be a really good game and a great way for you guys to kick off he JJ era and Texas State to kick off the drive to move up to FBS.
We'll be ok.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

4-8.
There are four "winnable" games on the schedule based on criteria I established long ago.
Winnable games:
1. I-AA teams
2. Sunbelt teams
3. Sub .500 teams.
4. Teams you beat the year before.
Fortunately or unfortunately, the one team SMU beat last season is off the schedule. SMU only won one game last year. SMU plays eight bowl teams this year.
We can all hope for good things to happen and I am certainly willing to say that SMU underacheived last season, but the reality is you don't go into a situation expecting a miracle.
7-5 would be a very pleasant surprise, but it should be considered a surprise.
4-8.

I don't know how on earth people can make picks this early. We've got TEs moving all around-some of which like McKinney and Chase who could fill huge holes in our lineup), we've got JUCOs coming in, a JUCO who was hurt last year, some maybe playing positions they never have before, we've got plenty of guys who will be moved. And probably most importantly you've got the redshirt freshman who will get a shot in spring. Why don't we see where we are after the spring game. If there is not an influx of say 5-6 new starters on defense for next year then bet low on the victory number.

I'm assuming the team is better than last year. 1 win last year. Several close losses. A slight bump in defense and/or offense is assumed. (hoped for, prayed for....) Therefore, 5 wins or so is reasonable.

I don't think there is any reason to fear that the defense will come back in the same shape it played last year. If, by any chance, the personnel are largely the same it will be as a result of JJ feeling confident that they have (a) learned how to tackle), (b) got a better gameplan putting them in the right place to make the tackle, and (c) believing that they can actually stop the other team.
If the current players can't get the job done then JJ will make the changes necessary to put his best defensive players on the park. As fired up as these kids are going to be this spring, and going into the fall, I think we will be MUCH improved on that side of the ball.
I will say this. The folks at ESPN are quite astute. The game against Rice is HUGE! It is a chance to exorcise the demons of 2006 while at the same time swing momentum in Peruna's direction. If we can beat Rice, which we have not been successful at doing in Houston, it will send a statement (and give us a really good chance at 2-0 to start the season. If we lose then some of the air may go out of the team (and JJ will have to be careful that the insecurity does not come back into the team).
If we beat Rice on ESPN, I say we go at least 7-5
If we lose to Rice, 5-7
