you know I notice that several of our CUSA West rivals had Dallas Junior Days-I wonder if SMU would consider a Houston Junior Day. UTEP, Tulsa and I believe even Rice had a Dallas Junior Day. Not to mention Big 12 schools like OSU. Here's what UTEP does-they are so far West it makes a lot of sense for them to go where the players are.

I saw a post that said Hawai'i had a 50K recruiting budget. I can not believe that is true. What does that buy you - 15 kids to come to Hawai'i on the red eye. (Note the proper spelling of Hawai'i).

Here is a pretty interesting article on early recruiting.

I haven't even brought up that Hawaii had no money for video cameras so for years they actually just used a video camera that JJ won in a golf tournament! Anyway, with that limited budget, JJ had to make sure that the players they gave visits were seriously considering Hawaii and not just looking for a free trip to Hawaii...

Recruiting to the island seems hard enough as is, even more so when you have to do it on the cheap. viva JJ

June Jones' modest football office at the University of Hawaii is the same run-down room former coach [deleted] Tomey sat in 20 years ago.
"Same carpet, too," Jones said matter-of-factly.
June Jones has turned around Hawaii from winless to undefeated in nine seasons.
The recruiting budget also hasn't moved since Jones took the job in December of 1998. It's been three years since he has traveled from Honolulu to the mainland to recruit. And until 2006, Hawaii's coaches did not have DVD equipment to share and record game film. The one camera they did have, Jones won at a Sony Pro-Am golf tournament.
Hawaii's outdated facilities, though, are about the only things that haven't improved since Jones took over. The program he inherited was 0-12. Now it is 12-0 for the first time in school history -- the only unbeaten team remaining in Division I-A. Hawaii had never been to a bowl game in the previous five seasons before Jones. Now the No. 10-ranked Warriors will play in their sixth -- a BCS game -- and will face Georgia in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1. Hawaii is on a 13-game winning streak -- the longest in the nation and in school history -- and has won 22 of its past 23 games.

I think this is sick and uncalled for. Pretty soon they will be using ultrasound to evaluate talent....

Once coach Jones gets to know the high school coaches in the state and surrounding area I believe they will call him with good recruits.

I think this belongs in the "TCU recruiting forum" section of ponyfans.com.
