2008 Women's Basketball All-Academic Team Announed
Seven Student-Athletes Recognized for Excellence on the Court and in the Classroom

IRVING, Texas - Five seniors, a junior and a sophomore make up the 2008 Conference USA Women's Basketball All-Academic Team as every player earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and is a starter or key reserve.
Rice and Southern Miss had two selections, while Houston, SMU and UTEP each placed one representative on the academic squad.
Janielle Dodds, a graduate student working on a master's degree in liberal studies at SMU, leads the Mustangs in both scoring (14.9 ppg) and rebounding (7.8 rpg). She ranks fifth in Conference USA for points (14.9 ppg) and eighth for rebounds (7.8 rpg). The Fairfax, Va., native was named to the 2007 All-Conference USA second-team and was a Kodak Freshman All-America selection. The team co-captain, Dodds is on track to break school records for career points and rebounds. She already received a bachelor's of arts in markets and culture.
