Video on the scoreboard?

Postby Morganblast » Wed Mar 05, 2008 3:32 pm

Hello all...I have a random question.

How is the video on the scoreboard? It's been up and running for a season and a half now, is that correct?

Do they mostly just cover the game with cameras or do they any cool videos and stuff like that?

Do they go lights out and show an intro video?

I really love going around and seeing how in game entertainment is run at different venues...I did the entire Florida tour this year and will be checking out some facilities in Texas next year.

Thanks everyone!

To be honest, it's pretty lame and they don't utilize it to it's potential for a $1M scoreboard. The video is not clear at all and I don't understand why.

Because they need to turn down the contrast. Whenever they show game coverage, the colors are way too bold from just about any angle in Moody.

The pictures or graphics they show appear fine. And yes, there isn't much "in game entertainment" going on.

If that's the only problem, I'm walking down to the controls myself next year and looking for the contrast button. It's horrible but you can clearly see the monitor has the resolution ability since the rest of the graphics are sharp. It's like going back to my childhood and watching Fantasy Island with rabbit ears.

So maybe we just need to go up to the control booth and move around the tin foil?

Thanks for the replies. That is disappointing. I wonder who is in charge of the production.

You can email Steve Orsini ([email protected]) (AD), Brad Sutton ([email protected]) (Associate AD), or Michael Maples ([email protected]) (Video Coordinator). I think Michael Maples would be in charge of that since his title is "video coordinator".

Here's the directory if you want anyone else.

Actually Video Coordinator usually means the person who does the sports video for the teams to review. I could be wrong, but that's usually the case.

Thanks, I will contact him.

Video Coordinator handles the coaching and scouting video. The production company that handles the videoboards in Moody and at Ford is Jeff Watts Productions.

I really think the operation of the scoreboard is just small time, I'm sure there is some guy that has been not doing it for the mavs, that is more than willing to come do it for us.

Maybe I am old school on this, but when I go to a college game I prefer to hear the band playing during timeouts rather than some goofy promo playing on the video board.
