Is USC the new UT?Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower IPP pitches again, jtstang hits it out of the park

For the record, at least half the schools you mention above are on-par if not superior to SMU academically, but I digress. The LA Times did a piece awhile back profiling several USC players who actually wanted to go to UCLA but couldn’t due to admissions. None had any academic issues at USC. USC’s recent success is in part due to self-restrictions UCLA has placed on themselves allowing the Trojan’s to monopolize this type of talent from the SoCal region. Which leads to JWill. No way do I condone what he did; I think it was enormously short-sided on his part. But you have to ask yourself, how many Top 25 programs would suspend ‘arguably’ their best QB over the past 20 years due to academics (at a minimum it played an important role), especially when you have NO proven back-up plan. I suspect Top 25 schools offer courses that are so dumbed-down, it is next to impossible for all-conference 'students' to fail.

No but if you are a football fan and compare wins to wins they blow SMU away. Maybe you should be a spelling bee fan, inane.
"We are aware of it and we're going to monitor the situation", USC SID, TIm Tessalone. I belive that is double speak for, "We will lay low and not mentin his name until he arrives on campus this summer for fall practices. Which at that time everyone will have forgotton this little "incident" and he will be welcomed with open arms."
No there's not. What does that even mean? That good football players have to be criminals? Do criminals make better football players because they get real world experience getting chased? Do they have to think more on their feet and that leads to better in-game decisions? What is this "correllation" you see?

Surprise, surprise....another post by jTsteer that demeans SMU! ![]() by the way......nice change of subject C-ya @ Milos!
Don't get your friggin' panties in a wad so quick. Just for reference, I'll submit the following:
Sarcasm is stating the opposite of an intended meaning especially in order to sneeringly, slyly, jest or mock a person, situation or thing.(link) Sir, shooting-star, sir.

I think jt is right on this one. There are no good 1-A football teams that dont have some thugs that will sometimes get in trouble. The cause and effect is undeniable unless you have permanent rose colored glasses on. The more truoble we have with our players and the law the better that means our teams are getting.
