Tulsa is currently upgrading their football facilities http://tulsahurricane.cstv.com/faciliti ... ation.html
which they've need to do for awhile now... So today I went to check out the new Case Athletic Center, and it is bad@ss... There is a nice photo gallery of it in the link i posted above

This is very impressive. TU is pulling out all the stops to keep the ball rolling. I'm impressed by the facilities at some of the mid majors.

They needed to do something. That stadium is a dump.

What happened to Tulsa being a backwater university? (And don't get me wrong, one of the five smartest people I have ever met was a professor at Tulsa - now professor emeritus still living in Tulsa... in one of the coolest houses I've ever been in.) Anyhow, those pics of that new Tulsa athletic complex? Gorgeous stuff.

It looks as though every PAT and field goal inside of the 40 yard line will crash through one of the windows of the new complex. What's up with that??

There was no net when we played them last year and a ball did go thru the open window and Bob Sharp caught it.

Was that an open window of a car? It seems that Skelly Field is so old and parking is such an issue, that they allow fans to park in the north end zone. If memory serves me correctly. If they added a drive in screen at the south end, they could double as a football field and drive-in movie. Think of the double feature opportunities.

Didn't Stallion document a lot of info on the new stadium and point out that it was only going to seat around 22,000? It may be pretty but that is surprisingly small if true.

It might be small, but their student body is only a little over 4k. So 22k is more than 5x their student population, and it's not like Tulsa is a huge metropolis.

I think it is going to seat more in the 25-26,000 range. As nice as it is-a 100% improvement, I think nice, small stadiums still leave a little off the table on the WOW factor for recruits wanting the big time college football experience. I don't know if it can be expanded. Didn't June Jones mention that he hoped Ford could be expanded as per the original option to fill in the bowl in the South endzone. One result will probably be the end of some pretty big occassional games Tulsa has had with Arkansas, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State over the years.

Which do you think is more condusive to recruiting "top 25" level talent - playing in the big-time, yet craphole Cotton Bowl, or playing in nice, but small-time Ford?
