I take back everything bad I've said about Laura Miller. Banishing Jerryland and this perfect storm of Deliverance-meets-Himmler.

Wow. That might be the two most deplorable fan bases in the nation. I hate them both.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Well, I'll bet Jerry is in 'Hog Heaven' with this news. This isn't a home-and-away series but is essentially a permenent sacrifice of one home game every 2 years to the season ticket holders of the Hog and Aggy faithful; wonder how they feel ? (Does Fayetteville and Little Rock still split home games--even more reason for some of them to feel slighted) The city of Arlington will be the big winner, along with the # 1 Hog, Jerry Jones. Wonder how much he'll charge for ticket prices ? I'm sure he'll give the college football fans a break, right ?

They still do that. Usually, they play 2 in Little Rock and the balance in Fayetteville. It's a big polticial issue because the games used to be split (I believe). Then they stuck all that money into the stadium in Fayetteville.

Usually, LSU comes to Little Rock when the boot game is in Arkansas. I think that's wrong. That game needs to be in Fayetteville for a true home field advantage. And really, the Razorbacks just need to get out of that eyesore WPA stadium in Little Rock. It's past its time. If you want to see the Hogs that bad and you're coming from Dumas, get in your car and drive up there and make a weekend of it.

This game is in recognition of just how important the DFW Recruiting Markets are-that's why this game is being played. These two school's are the two schools whose recruiting success has suffered the most in DFW Recruiting since the breakup of the SWC.

Really? Their success has suffered more than SMU's?

How many cities with pro sport teams do not have either a downtown football or baseball stadium[or both]?

Interesting, but not surprising, that they went with a much nicer stadium over the larger Cotton Bowl. Guess they figure they can make up for less tickets by charging more.

The Cotton Bowl would almost fit in the new stadium if that tells you which is larger.

The new stadium reportedly can hold up to approx. 100,000 when they maximize its capacity...obviously the Cotton Bowl can't touch that. So they chose nicer AND larger.

The website for the new stadium says
Seating Capacity: A capacity of 80,000 plus standing room or additional seating in the end zones, along with ticketed areas in the end zone plazas can increase total capacity to 100,000.

I believe, and could be wrong, that the additional 20k seats are not actually seats, but standing room only for football, but can be added as seats for other types of events.

When the renovations on the Cotton Bowl are done, it will seat over 90k.

It really burns me that schools like UT, OU, A&M , Arkansas, ND and Baylor can schedule games in Dallas without scheduling SMU, TCU or UNT. If DFW is such an important recruiting area, then why didn't they keep the SWC together? Then they'd have gotten an annual game in DFW either at SMU or TCU. As much as I have given Tech grief over the years, they have proven to be a solid ally of SMU football by scheduling us for home and home series. And the Aggies are allegedly coming to Dallas to play SMU but only for a 1-2 and they'll probably never show for the game here. I'm sure there is a buyout.
