Easy on my hometown. EP is a great place to grow up. It also really makes you appreciate the rest of Texas.

The only thing detracting from a completely polished-looking campus is the state of the roads. Those have taken a real beating with all the construction traffic through campus. Once the construction is focused on the outskirts of campus (like the Bush Library), it will be nice to have some of those repaved making the center of campus simply pristine.

I had the pleasure of being on your campus this morning. First time in some time. Very pretty. A number of impressive new buildings. The tree-lined street leading to the rotunda building is simply iconic.

Isn't it? And yet the powers that be think that it's not iconic enough I guess since the are making the "main entrance" to campus SMU Boulevard coming west from Central.

Yes, I wonder about that. I know it's supposed to symbolically support the idea that SMU is becoming closer to the Dallas community, but do we really want the entrance to our campus to be the Bush Library, frat houses and a parking garage? Is that really projecting the image that SMU wants the community to have upon entering our campus? Or is there some master plan to move the Greeks and the Parking garage for a snazzier "official" entrance to the SMU community from SMU Boulevard?

In fact, now that I think about it, do we have a new master plan for the campus at all? I hear that there are plans to add an indoor tennis facility, move the band hall, build a new natatorium, build a new Wescott Stadium and rennovate Moody (all of which I hope happen and soon), in addition to the Presidential library. But haven't we torn down Letterman hall for the new garage, and now we're tearing down the SMU apartments- Where are students going to live? I thought SMU was trying to move to a more residential plan, not towards more of a commuter school? And are we really going to have Greek Row and the President's Library be the first thing visitors see? I am neither against the library, nor the Greek system, but doesn't someone think that might send an interesting message? Anyone have any idea what the long term plans for campus will be?

I agree with you, but its hard to make Bishop the entrance to campus when there is no parking whatsoever, and all the administrative offices are now in the Blanton bldg across campus.
