SMU Women's Team Earns AP Votes

While we've had some discussion on this board around seeding for the NCAA tournament, I will say that earning 8 votes in the AP poll this week helps us tremendously. And with an RPI of 47 - you've got to like our chances for a better seeding.

Didn't someone say the NCAA only uses one version of the RPI, and that we're somewhere in the 60s?

This time it's 3 from a guy in Florida and 5 from a guy in NJ. None from our friend in North Carolina though.

Those votes are richly deserved, although to few in number. We went up against a top-20 team and whipped 'em. It's not like we won when someone heaved a half-court "hail mary" shot or something. We hit them, we took their best punch, and we withstood it before knocking them out.

Do they do any more polls before the season starts?

Just saw where we received 4 votes in the ESPN/USA Today poll. I like to read the polls this way:

AP - SMU is ranked #34 (received 8 votes)
ESPN/USA Today - SMU is ranked #39 (received 4 votes)
