Frank Otis State championship Game on TVIF you have DirecTV, and you have the sports package, meaning all the 600s channels, prepare for Mook. Otis & his undefeated McClymonds team take on the #1 team in the state, Dominguez, Compton tonight on FoxSports West.
IF you haven't seen the recent glut of press around Mook & McClymonds outgoing hoops coach, do yourself a favor and google him. After reading more then a few articles about Otis, its very clear this kid is damn fine human being, a tremendous ambassador for any program, and a hard worker w/character. Mook will be facing Jordan Hamilton, a top 10 national prospect in 09. Pretty much better competition then he'll see in CUSA, outside of Memphis & Demarcus Cousins Go McClymonds! Go Mook! “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones

so far, good game. Otis is a massive specimen of a high schooler. He's stacked
After one quarter, tie ball game. Otis definitely can handle the ball. Grabbed a few boards and lead the break, making a few great passes. Also broke a guy down off the bounce in the half court and found an open cutter for an easy flush. Mostly, he's a post guy, no jumpers yet. Definitely overpowering on the blocks, but hasn't finished well so far. Jordan Hamilton is just nasty “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. Its halftime w/Otis' team up 4. He's not having much success finishing, but the are double and tripling down on him, and he's making them pay w/great vision. He's literally picking Dominguez apart when the commit more than one man, finding the baseline cutter, open man at the arc etc.
IF two things stand out about Otis right now, its his passing and his handle. Kid is pretty polished w/the ball in his hands for being so damn strong. “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. Doh should be recruiting Will Cherry & Damon Powell from Otis' team. Cherry is a very underrated, highly dynamic PG, that can break you down off the dribble. Powell is high flying SF

LA, is his game similar to Willie Davis' game?
I didn't get to see the game last night. I have only seen a couple of his youtube clips but he seems to be quicker more mobile than Willie D....he's more of a "dirty work" guy, and less of a scorer. He is very athletic, and as PonyDoh noted, no one is going to push him around.
He handles and passes a lot better. He's not nearly as athletic as Willie D, just doesn't have his hops. Neither are good shooters, both gutsy garbage types. Otis is a lot wider than Davis. The kid is immense through the shoulders. “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. If I remember correctly, Willie wasn't much at the FT line either.
The couple of clips I saw, Otis seemed very athletic and quick, but I'll defer to Doh on this...he did see the game. Willie could jump, but I remember that quicker players gave him trouble.
