Good Marketing and FUN

Postby BUS » Mon Mar 17, 2008 8:56 am

SMU had a nice float for the Greenville St. Patricks Parade. A group of 10 or so people threw out Mini Footballs and PONY UP hats.

It was funny to see some people wearing their hats proudy. The point that SMU and PONY UP reached a crowd not normally touched by SMU marketing is great.

The flaot was simple yet SMU the Mustang and sports came across.

Way to Go Mustangs.

Next year how about red and blue jello shots.

We need a pied piper who can lead at least half that crowd of 60,000 into Ford Stadium. Could we move St. Patrick's Day to September? Good going on the float thang.

The only fact I found out is that Monica at SMU Marketing put it together. When I went to her phone - I got no answer and voice mail.

Her number is 214-168-2879 if you want to know more.

Maybe she will read this board and write a report for us about how and who helped.

From the spy in her office.

I was down on Greenville Saturday night and saw quite a few Pony Up hats... was wondering why.

Hi Guys -- It was great fun! The marketing and sales staff crew worked the parade.

It was really fun to see how everyone wanted a June Jones shirt and Pony Up hat/shirt and people were FIGHTING for them!

Pics to come.

By far, the SMU float was the best float out there on Saturday. I do have pictures--if someone will PM me with instructions on how to post photos, I'll post to the board tonight.

I also like the Barry Manilow float. It was worthy of its 2005 Stupidist Float award. Great sense of humor. The Jabari Memorial Pipes & Drums group was spectacular.

Thanks, SMU, for supporting the city and the best thing that happens here--the Greenville Ave. St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Hats off, too, to the Greenville Avenue Area Business Association, the excellent organizer of the event.

What is so great about the parade is that everyone out there is having fun. The cops don't care if you have a beer or jello shot (as long as you are not acting too crazy). Everyone is friendly. It's just a great atmosphere, and Saturday's parade was the best.
