It was great watching practice today.

After stretch, all players went through basic fundamentals of tackling, stripping the football, fumble recovery, etc. There was constant repetition and high intensity. Everyone was competing, and yet it appeared very relaxed. There wasn't a lot of screaming. There was a lot of teaching.

After the first 45 minutes they broke up into offensive and defensive position groups for drills. Again, a lot of repetitions. There wasn't much standing around.

I observed the offense for about 30 minutes. What I observed was route work with Coach Jones watching and taking it all in. I didn't make it over to the offensive line. I wondered over to the defensive side for the last sessions.

Defensively, when they came together, they were in a 4-3. They walked a LB up on the TE side. You saw mixed stunts with a lot of blitzing. They were even coming out of the zone coverage and playing man. Corners were playing tight. They weren't sitting 15 yards off the receivers waiting on them. They were up and letting them play physical. It was great!

If you didn't know better, you would think Coach Gantz was the head coach. This 70 year old special teams coach acts like he's much younger. The players really seemed to responded to him. He's knowledgable, positive, and very motivating.
Overall, it was fun to watch. I can't wait to go back tomorrow.

It's about time our DBs were taught how to deal with hitting them early rather than giving them 10 yards and a hug.
