That story wreaks of jealousy. The writer is constantly taking shots at SMU's image as a rich, snob-filled school...the lines about how much things cost, how the Circle of Champions donations were like "parking meter change," etc. And then this:
after seeing what was achieved at Hawai'i, which they regard as somewhere beyond the edge of football civilization

Jealousy? If anything, it kind of pumps me up for JJ's next quest. I think you're reading too much into it and being a little over sensitive/paranoid about it. Maybe It's just my attitude of looking at things with a "glass is half full mentality".
Take it as a compliment and kick that "glass is half empty" attitude to the curb. Mark my words, SMU is this years Cinderella and will be the media darling at seasons end. You can bet the house on it- they are going to cover every spread this year.

I didn't take it as that bad either.
They lost a great coach. It's gotta hurt.
It's funny, because the little snide remarks
from opposing teams don't even bother me anymore,
just knowing who we got and where we are heading.
I am just happy we have the people hungry enough to build
a new stadium, to build top notch facilities, to pay to get
a great new coach and an AD that "gets it".
Poor Hawaii has none of the above.

That's for sure about coach's dress...at the basketball game he attended and was introduced...he had no socks on...nor did he when he was on Fox SW...but he always says something and people listen...I guess he is used to taking his shoes off and wading in the sand....But I am glad we have him...Go Mustangs!!!

I really couldn't care less if he wears a tuxedo without socks. We hired him to coach football. He could wear a pink tutu and so long as we win our games, I'm happy.

You sound a little too sure
Too sure that he's going to wear the tutu? Or that he's going to win?
That you'd be happy with JJ wearing a pink tutu

I honestly think I have reached that point. I'm just ready to win! Hey, it would bring more publicity our way...
