I'll take the challenge. How about the many sarcastic posts razzing people about their hope a better coach can "coach em up"..."coach up the boys"? You always said no one's going to improve SMU with the level of talent we have. Something else that comes to mind is when I posted last year that it was odd that we were in our base defense the entire game against UCF last year, never disguised anything whatsoever & you basically said I'm another one that's blaming Bennett again when it's all about talent, not coaching (oddly enough, the next week against Memphis we changed our defense every play, tried to disguise packages, etc which was weird). If I get really bored later I'll give you actual posts if that's what you want. I also see that you seem to be backing off this mantra a lot lately. ALL THAT BEING SAID, TALENT IS IMPORTANT AND OUR MODEL WAS A SIGNIFCANT PROBLEM as coaching has been as well but don't try to say you've never signifcantly downplayed coaching as a differentiating factor.

Yeah go find those posts where I said Coaching doesn't matter. Have fun. My premise for more than 10 years now has been that SMU has not been able to compete with its natural and traditional rivals because it did not have a competitive Model that put SMU on an even playing field. (Note I have not made this argument in awhile and with the signing of Elizee, Dennis, Faye, Odiari, Deyon McElroy, Derek Williams, Givens and Rhodes, I have seen the tangible evidence that has convinced me to join the Mustang Club which I will do by the Season Ticket Renewal Date.). Note the premise of my argument does not include and has never included the idea that Coaching doesn't matter. the term "Coaching em up" means you can't build a consistently strong program unless you are competitive for the best football players. I have 19 years of proof on that point I can cite. And further, even your beloved June Jones has criticized and would not have taken the SMU job under the Model that was the basis of the Premise. So once again No Competitive Model=No June Jones. Oh and by the way, I am the last person that can be blamed for Phil Bennett since I was the loudest and most prominent spokesman for the hugely unpopular opinion that he was the worst possible choice for the job in the first place.

Believe me......I am thrilled that Stallion is seen enough evidence of change to join the Mustang Club. Hey Stall, just remember who called you! And I don't won't to see anyone dogging Stallion about joining the Club, this is a great proof that SMU is ready to Pony Up again!

COACHING MATTERS and we'll soon see how much coaching matters. Unless JJ plays several freshman next season he will basically have the same team Bennett & his staff coached to a one win season. I'm just amazed at the teaching that's going on at practice that has not been there in years. I challenge each and everyone of you who post on this board to "if possible" make a spring practice. As another post said it's just too much to say what's going on at practice you have to see it to believe it. I'm going to be the first to step out in the sun and become a big "SUNSHINER" and say we may beat Hawaii's big turnaround in when JJ went there and went from winless to 9-3.

superman,
I'm loving me some June Jones too, but our defense isn't going to scare anyone. Luckily for us, no one else in C-USA plays much defense either. I've been telling people that if we win at least 5 games next year I'll be happy. If we win 6 or 7 I'll be VERY happy. If we win 8 or more games next year its time to start raising money for a June Jones statue to go right next to Doak's. As much as it pains me to say it, Stallion is partially right about the talent issue. We don't have alot of difference makers on defense right now. But I'll be the first to say if we win 9 or 10 games next year June Jones is the greatest person to even think about football.
Back off Warchild seriously.

It hasn't happened yet. How is this going to cut into your budget for badgering women half your age at Red River Stallion? Oh and by the way, if you're trolling for trim at Red River, I do truly pity you sir.

Hey I'll dog Stallion about joining the Mustang Club...if all he is doing is renewing his season football tickets, technically he is "joining" the Mustang Club, with the new ticket policy...I don't consider it "joining" unless you add a little extra...Come on Stallion, how about going for at least the Mustang Level...I do that and can only get to one game or so a year?!

Went to practice today and was impressed with the new coaches, especially special teams coach. Players who stood out are Logan Turner, Bryan McCann and #3(Derrious?). Weather was perfect!

I think #3 is Devon Bailey. We won't have practice on Friday but we will resume on Monday, practice Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and right on through with a morning practice on Saturday. Wednesday is an off day.
