Notre Dame cheerleaders

Postby PonyPride » Sun Mar 23, 2008 2:30 pm

They're struggling. One dude looks like he's 40, another looks like he gets to the gym about as often as most sportswriters (trust me - that's not often).

They've also dropped THREE cheerleaders in the first half.

And I'm guessing the guy who wears the little leprechaun suit gets beaten up a lot. Call it a hunch.

Their uni's are terrible. Let's hope both their teams experience the same fate in 2 days.

Not at all. Just one of those guys who's like your buddy's obnoxious little brother. You want to pummel him, but you know you probably shouldn't... although in this case, I think an exception to that rule definitely should be made.

Does ND have a medical school? Maybe they need some new cadavers.

How on earth one of them didn't get hurt I will never know. The little mascot would get behind one of the guys who dropped and act like he was going to help them...um yea...

They were pretty nice though.

Can someone tell me how dressing up a diminutive irritable jerk in green whose pretense is "fighing" anyeone not from an established racial class, is not culturally insensitive ? Would a "fightin injun" with a tomahawk be allowed to randomly roam the sidelines of a sporting event? Chief Knockahoma, go grab your warbonnet ! Why, this implies that some folks with Irish ancestry are prone to violent resolution of conflict; I am terribly offended. NCAA watchdogs, are you listening out there.....

Apparently you haven't been studying your politically correct policy manual. You can only be racist if you are white, and it isn't offensive if it makes fun white people. God I'd love to see the NCAA sued over ND.

I can feel your pain but be reminded that a leprechaun is a mythical figure and nothing more that the dressed up mascots from other schools that are not real humans. Just this weekend I witnessed a Duck, an Ibis, a Longhorn, Tiger, Bulldog, Horse, Gael Force 1 (whatever that was), and even a Governor, all picking fights with the opposition. Notre Dame has many other things that are offensive other than their make believe guy on the sidelines. Just the fact all their games are nationally televised is enough for me to scream foul.

Last time I checked an "Irish" wasn't mythical. How is "Fightin' Irish" different from "Fightin' Sioux"? Would "Fightin' Sioux" be OK if their mascot had been some mythical human-esque creature from Sioux mythology?

My remark was only in reference to the leprechaun. I totally agree with everything you have just said. Fighting Longhorns, Fighting Mustangs and Fighting Tigers are ok. So is a Fighting Leprechaun. Anyway just remember the chant of the NCAA Tourney is "Let's Go Peay".

That's true, but if Illinois Fightin' Illini and South Dakota Sioux and Miami (of Ohio) Redskins are names that cross the sensitivity barrier, then I actually agree with Paladi here. Nothing will ever change, of course, because Notre Dame is a vault of revenue for the NCAA. That little freak was more annoying than that stupid song of theirs.

And Mustangs35SMU, I'm starting to worry about you. I was in the arena yesterday - there was nothing even remotely nice about their cheerleaders. If they looked good on TV, that was absolute trick photography.
