I like the bit at the end about SMU reimbursing the Park Cities for the loss of tax revenue. I guess that will be the price we have to pay to get the zoning changed.

They had better give La Madeline a spot in the middle of campus or something...I am going to miss that restaurant.

I still miss Pancho's all you can eat Mexican Buffet. You didn't want to light a match in any SMU dorm on a Sunday night.

Man that kinda sucks. I still stop by the bookstore and the sandwich shop from time to time. But its nice to see our university grow at the same time. The transformation of the SMU campus in the last five years is truly astonishing. When I started at SMU as a freshman in 2002, we didn't have the Crum Center, Junkins, Blanton Building, Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports, the new MBA Building. SMU has truly made a quantum leap in both the aesthetic and intellectual reputation of the school. Oh yeah, and we have a Presidential Library coming to campus? What a great time to be a student!
Back off Warchild seriously.

Perhaps they'll break or get out of the deal with Barnes & Noble, too. BN sure has been a dissapointment. I wish they'd model it after Stanford's; I believe Follet is the owner? Mustang 72 would know. They have a much better assortment of merchandise.

First off, how much tax revenue do the park cities make off SMU students, parents, and faculty? They shouldn't need reimbursement. Second, if that land isn't going to be used for Library, why would demolishing it be part of the deal? The article makes it sound as though the Library people are requiring it.

Noticed that this past summer during their baseball school. But their bookstore on campus is still GREAT!!! It just appears Follet has a good sense of how a "business" should be merchandised, etc.

By the way, we're going to be there this Sat. for a Giants game & we may drop by again. I think we're taking the Coast Hwy down this time.

I highly doubt this area will be used for the actual library, but probably for a welcome center type thingy, or possibly an additional garage. The parking for this monstrosity, coupled with our already hampered university parking situation, is going to be hell.

The bookstore is moving to Hillcrest where Varsity books and ZuZu's (more like shih-tzu's, food was terrible) used to be.

That would be an awesome place to a giant parking garage - a stone's throw away from Ford and not too far from Moody. Also would probably P.O. the UP locals.

If we put up a parking garage in that area, can we please have the first floor be retail/restaurants (see: Baylor's garage that has a Chili's and Starbucks)? We could put parking both above and below that.
