Texas QB Sherrod Harris To Transfer

Postby StallionsModelT » Mon Mar 24, 2008 12:57 pm

Word trickling out on the Texas Rivals.com site is that backup QB Sherrod Harris is going to transfer. Harris was actually ahead of John Chiles in practice before last season but suffered an injury that kept him out of the first half of the season. His reps have been decreasing steadily and wants to go somewhere where he feels he can play. He's a DFW area guy who was highly touted out of high school. Given Justin Willis' situation he should warrant at least a look.
Back off Warchild seriously.

I would assume it's a serious longshot, but could you imagine? I remember reading comments about this guy saying he could be an All-America-caliber college QB. Would love to see him at SMU, but highly doubt it ever happens....

Sherrod is a very intelligent and respectful kid......and a solid QB. He's just never going to get the opportunity to play QB at UT. He would be a valuable addition to our football team, on and off the field.

Does coach jones want a running qb? Even in high school he was known for his running. I just dont know if he fits the system. But it still might be a good idea.

He is leaving UT to be a QB. I'm pretty sure he wont leave a national title contender to play WR at SMU. If he wanted to play WR, he would do it at UT.

right...........WR at Texas. He may be a running qb but he would have an even less likely shot at wide receiver then at QB at Texas - thats ridiculous.

A cowkorker of mine had a son that went to HS with Sherrod, and he had been telling me how accurate a passer he was since the 9th grade. I wish him well as a QB.

yah not likely. They tried that same move in the NFL with Hines Ward and Antwaan Randle El and it didn't work either...How could it work in College?

it has worked hundreds of times every year in College. The best athletes in high school generally line up at QB and many are moved to WR.

Speaking of QBs moving to WR-has Columbus Givens applied for the NFL Draft-this site has him pretty highly rated-I didn't even know he was eligible. NFL scouts looking for speed.
