I am kind of amazed how lucky both Barnes and Brown are at UT to be so over rated yet they continue to win and win big. How long can this luck continue?

C-USA is on the rise, sip. Don't jack with SMU's new conference. You already had a nice part in destroying the SWC - and ALL for money.
Rick Barnes is one of 500 coaches who could win at Texas with that endless sea of talent pouring in every year.
Hahaha. Ok. Yeah, Texas was such a powerhouse before Barnes. Do you even know what you are talking about or are you just spewing inane bs?
Previous 93 years before Barnes: 2 Final Fours, 2 Elite 8's and 4 Sweet 16's
Barnes Era (10 seasons): 1 Final Four, 2 Elite 8's and 2 Sweet 16 (not mention a tourney appearance every year he's been here).
Again, talk trash all you want about our performance yesterday because it's deserved. But to call Texas overrated, or Barnes, for that matter, is just ignorant. But keep it up, it makes you look e-tough.

Oh, and I had nothing to do with the SWC breaking up. I was still in high school. But thanks for the consideration, though.

He did. But Barnes has taken it one step beyond. Penders only got to 2 Sweet 16s and one elite 8. Up until Penders arrived, Texas basketball was a joke. In the last 20 years, it has been very consistent.
Also, Longhorn68, Barnes has won or shared 3 Big 12 championships. I think Penders won 2 SWC titles and won the conference tourney after Arkansas left.
I absolutely give Penders credit for providing the foundation but the powers that be also recognized how big Texas hoops could be and now they want to contend every year.

Penders deserves some credit for whetting the appetites of UT fandom. Anyone who says Barnes is overrated needs a sharp stick in their eye. He's a great x's & o's coach, good recruiter & great talent evaluator. I'll concede that recruiting's not too tough at UT, it's more a problem of picking amongst the great high schoolers that want to go there. Also very few discipline problems on the basketball team since Barnes has been there.
Mack Brown's not a game day coach but he's a good "CEO" and recruiter. UT's had plenty of bad programs under various coaches in the past so you can't say anyone can do well there. You'd think anyone could do well at LSU or Alabama for example but they've had some horrible teams in the past. UNC took a nosedive after Mack Brown left.

The thing I can't understand is that some people think he's not very good at X's and O's. I think he uses his personnel very well. And the fact he got this group to the Elite 8 after Kevin Durant says something.

It warmed my heart to see that tanning that the Whorns got yesterday from CUSA. It warmed my heart further to see Lavin and Dickie V keep picking against Memphis and seeing the Tigers just stomp on their "expertise". Keep it up, time for the Tigers to go hunting for Bruins. What this might mean is that Memphis is just that good and CUSA is not as bad as we've been tagged to be. While they didn't quite turn the Whorns into quivvering lumps of jello, they clearly kept them on the ropes all day.

As for CUSA, remember Tulsa is playing for the CBI championship against Bradley. That best-of-3 series begins tonight in Tulsa.

Whorns. That so clever, original and Aggie.
Texas played them closer than SMU did.

Wait a second here. I hope that you are not suggesting that UT's Basketball team might be better than SMU's!!! Next are you going to tell me that UT would beat SMU in a football game if they played each other????

Although I am sympathetic to the 'horns on occasion, both to keep the peace at home and to make Inane crazy just for fun, I had to cheer for Memphis as they are my only tourney pick left with a chance to win.
