Stallion and the Mustang Club

Post by Alaric »

So, we hear that Stallion's joined the Mustang Club. Is this from a reliable source? I didn't think we'd see the day, even if the model did change and I thank the powers that be that it did...didn't personally think it would change.

Like I said a few weeks ago-a sizeable donation is going in with my season ticket package before the April Deadline for renewing season tickets.

Is the sizable donation simply the add on to the season tickets (i.e. $30/ticket), or are you kicking in an additional sum of money as well? If the donation you are referring to is the "mandatory" donation that goes along with purchasing season tickets, then I don't think that is going to cut it.

Take the man at his word. If he says he is donating a sizeable amount then you should simply be happy that yet another person is supporting SMU Athletics financially.

We are all on the same team. I am sure there will be a lot more alumni donating to the Mustang Club now that SMU has taken steps to be more competetive in football and athletics in general (ie, hiring proven Div. 1-A winning coaches, reducing admission standards to allow for a broader range of recruits, accepting credit hours of Div. 1 and juco institutions to make it more feasible to attract quality transfers, increasing the recruiting budget to visit and host more high school players and implementing an education major to allow athetes to pursue coaching after college).

Very cool Stallion. I saw in a random post where someone was saying you'd joined but I'd never heard it from the horse's mouth...

BUS or anyone else, what's the number of Mustang Club members now? Number of living alumni? Current number of season ticket holders?

As of Wednesday, there were a little over 2000 Mustang Club members and more are still signing up. We won't have a final count until May 31. Approximately 300 of those are "Young Alums" which is very nice. :)

How many were there at this time a year ago, or at this time during the Bennett dynasty?

I don't know exact numbers but I can say in general we already have more people with approx 7 weeks to go than we did last year at the end. And we still have many people who need to renew.

I would be one of the young alums who donated a portion of my very modest earnings to the worthy cause of SMU athletics. It ain't much but its all I can do right now. They don't give you the keys to the kingdom at 24.
Back off Warchild seriously.

PonyLove -- I renewed my Mustang Club membership some time ago when I renewed my season tickets the day of the Crum Center dontation, but have heard nothing from Mustang Club. Is the plan to do a mass mail out of confirmations to Mustang Club members at end of campaign, or should I have received something by now ?

Just curious, thought you would know based on the info. in your posts.

I got the keys when I was 24, but then I found out they changed the locks. I would imagine most ponyfans started at a modest level. That's good.

When I renewed in February, I got my new bar to fit into my placque in mid-March. It was red. If you haven't received yours, then call the Mustang club and see what they can to help. Hayley, Linda or Debra are very responsive.
