Not To Be Negative But.....Is anyone else a little disappointed in the structure of the Big Red and Blue Game? I was happy to see some pretty athletic looking recruits and there were more hot cougars at Ford than the Wasatch Mountains of Utah.
However, I think I saw more action at practice the other day. ![]()
I think it would've been nice to have known that practice began at 1:00 and the scrimmage at 2:00. I know of several who left after watching an hour of 7-on-7 and individual drills. We lasted until about 2:30. At least that left more BBQ for everyone else.
They announced that at the beginning. Sorry you missed it. I enjoyed the drills much more than the scrimmage. It was easier to see the good, bad and ugly. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
There were a lot of positives.
The slowest to develop will be the offense, especially the timing between quarterbacks and receivers. There is such a difference moving from 7 v 7 skeleton and real live action game like conditions. With summer work and August prep, this team will be ready. Coach Jones also stressed many that will contribute weren't suited up today. Suspensions and new recruits will be competing for play time. It will be a fun season.
I wouldve like to see more of a game type setup, with 2 whole teams playing against each other. I wouldve liked to watch the offense attempt to march the field.
That being said, I did like watching the drills, and would like to see those incorporated into any future iterations of this. The worst thing: the guy reading the raffle numbers... He sounds like he was trying way too hard to talk. Sir, shooting-star, sir.

Don't get your hopes up - JJ did not have spring games at Hawaii. McMackin is reinstating that this year.
I agree that the "scrimmage" was not as informative as the drills at the beginning of practice. Watching an offensive and defensive unit run plays like that when they are familiar with the other side's play-script was slow paced and rehearsed as it should have been . The 7 on 7 showcased some pretty solid match ups along with a couple screw ups here and there, but when it was all over, the football junkie side of me had a pretty good time. Swing the gate!
That's a lie. You and I both know it is a forgery. Keep it if you wish but if you try to sell it I will let the truth out. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
I agree with you. The 7 on 7 let me know that if our offensive line can give our QB 7 or 8 seconds to throw, we may be ok. It was fun to watch Robinson separate though. I think he is going to be a major impact this year. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Not To Be Negative But.....
a friend just called me from Ford and they are still running drills and the guy is still on the way too loud PA system announcing winners of a free sub sandwich at Blimpies! ![]() C-ya @ Milos!
