The band was planning on attending, but due to the nature of the event this year, could not perform.
For the record, I enjoyed the format immensely. The Spring Game is nothing but a dog and pony show, anyway; it doesn't reveal anything.
My No. 1 Complaint re: Ford. They have looked into it. It is a little low ont he priority list. That is why they had the speaker tower on the South side at the beginning of last season. People compained about that, too.
The drills alone were more entertaining than some spring games (Cavan era). These guys were basically at their job with a few thousand people watching, and didn't seem to notice - teaching CONSTANTLY. I found it surprisingly entertaining, and exceedingly encouraging.
Got big hopes for Derrius Bell this season.
Life would be much easier with fewer people who complain. I don't care what you do, someone will not be happy. Personally, I think having the speakers at the south end along with the current speakers will probably be the final solution..with volumes adjusted accordingly.
We had a great time and were pleased to have met some very nice people. Evan paid close attention to all the drills and is chomping at the bit to get there and become a Mustang. Thanks to everyone that was so kind to us, it was a wonderful (but too short) visit.

the question as I see it-is does SMU want to present such a boring, non-event as the showcase for a Junior Day in which it is hosting 250 athletes. I could care less about what Jones does as far as organizing spring practice. But I think Saturday's was a BORE-Fest for Recruits-which is what I am most concerned with. In 45 years of following college football I don't remember a single other Texas team having a powder puff game for its Spring Football Game. I think it was probably a disappointment for many recruits who have limited experience with the college game. I bet they wanted to see some action and see the "speed of the game" and how they might fit into SMU's schemes.

I agree with Stallion 100% (omg can that be true?) Again, Sat was a good start....bringing all the kids in, having the catered lunch. But SMU needs to make it much more upbeat. We need a real "WOW FACTOR" for these kids. I know it won't please alot of the X&O football nuts that read this message board, but like Stallion says the Spring Game needs to be a showcase.....we need former players(current Dallas Cowboy Justin Rogers, Eric Dickerson, ect) with the PA announcer informing everyone of their presence a little bit of hip music dropped in every once in awhile, the band, the cheerleaders in uniform, Peruna(the real and the costumed), maybe a few more coaches wearing mics like Coach Frank Ganz, lets not leave anything on the table and use every tool possible to "sell SMU" to the recruits, the media, the students, and the fans. C-ya @ Milos!
