Please post comments, recap, thoughts, etc on today's Red & Blue game as soon as you get back (unless you are overly excited and have a blackberry, iPhone, etc - then it is pefrectly acceptable to update in real time). Can't make it as I will be making a right instead of left when i get to 35 in about 30 minutes.
Thanks.
It tastes better when served from a Bowl (game)!

My primary comment is that we either need a lot more help on the offensive line or we are going to have a heck of a defensive line this year. You decide.

hard to tell - almost none of next years skill players were on the field at the same time.

To my understanding we had more people at the Spring Game than any we have had in the past 20 years. And we had more recruits visiting at one time than any time in the past as well. I would call Saturday a success!

Yeah, although I still think the OL looked a bit better than last year

The secondary looked MUCH better. Loved Derrius Bell's interception - he can accelerate forward after backpedaling about as fast as any DB I can remember at SMU in recent years.

Hopefully that is true. My remark was directed to the one on one practice session and not the scrimmage portion. It seemed our defensive rush had a step on our OL blocking. It also seemed we are going to the wider splits ala Leech style.

Were you referring to the first team or second team? I noticed some issues also. But out on the field, the second team was out there most of the time. Any thoughts?

Again, my comments were on the practice session that took place on the sideline on about the 20 yard line on the southwest side of the field. Some of the lineman seemed to be having some difficulty in handling the rush of some of the DL guys. It was training and practice and not game situation so I am not making any kind of a panic statement, just a general observation. When I did watch, however, much of it was 1st team vs. 1st team one on one, and the DL seemed to "win more than the OL. I will say that on the DL side Serge looked quicker than last year which is very positive.
