from above Your beanie should be taken away. (I know that sounds wimpy to most, but to a band member, it's a big deal.)
does the band still make freshman wear beanies their first semester?
isn't this a form of hazing? it use to be back in the late 60's.

Freshmen are not forced to wear beanies. They have to prove they are worthy of being a Mustang Band member and thus earn the right to wear a beanie.

The freshmen footballers were made to wear beanies when I was there. One of the hazing rituals was to make us stand on the steps of the student center and approach freshman ladies as they were going to enter, and ask for a kiss. After the upper classmen found that the frosh girls were more than willing to oblige, the beanies were confiscated and used by them for the same purpose.

No, but if I recall correctly, the guys from way back in the old days did get their beanies at the beginning of camp.

Or put together a band message board to talk about it?
"It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses." ... "Hit it."

So unfit students are expelled from the band? I am pleased that there is a system in place to keep only the finest Mithrandirs.

One campus urban legend is that to earn their beanies, band freshman have to kiss Peruna under the tail. I'm sure its just an urban legend and there is no truth to that rumor at all.

Don't forget the Orcs too. That would be a fine group...Mithrandirs and Orcs.
