Good luck Thad, I've been there. 'Tis better to be laid than laid off.

Don't let this be an excuse to quit quitting smoking.

My commitment to quit [again] is sill there, back to a countdown after returning from the bachelor party weekend in CO.

Though I have - as of yesterday - taken up disc golf. Here's hole seven from the park just down the street (Zilker).

My buddy P-Rock told me that I needed to get outside everyday. He suggested disc golf. He picked me up after work yesterday and I used some of his old discs... I played it for the first time since I was a kid - back then it was called frisbee golf. Then today I went out and bought a driver, a mid-range and a putter. Played 27 holes after lunch. Took me all of an hour and half, but I was sweating like a champion (too much information?).

It's the perfect 'sport' for the uncoordinated beer drinker in all of us... then again... you go out there and there are some really excellent players out there.

Hahaha. Never thought of it that way, as in he was a rock star, a dj, a rapper... always thought it was a cool nickname.

His last name starts with Rock.

There were two Patricks in his building when he lived above a bar in downtown Houston. He was the lucky one, the other guys last name was, no joke, Irene. Thus P-Rock, and, sadly, P-Irene. (Or P. Rock and P. Irene, if your not into the whole hyphen thing).

It's a heavier disc that flies pretty darn straight and true. A lot more forgiving than say a driver.

I know, I found it a tad ridiculous that they have different type of discs... but you know.. once I started to use them I began to notice drastic differences in the "clubs". It's kind of cool. Unlike the dork above. You know in england that hand sign is equivalent to the bird.

That's a picture of you last weekend, right ExP?

Good luck with the laid off thing. I thoroughly agree with Jt on this. Don't take the job being offered by expony 18. He knows that only UNT grads work out for that type of employment. With summer starting there is a nationwide shortage of lifeguards. And as we all know, lifeguards get perks as long as they make sure the bestower of the gift is of age.

ThadFilms...I used to do some biz with P-Rocks dad, has to be the same connection....houston / tennis player / loves baseball / finance guy....I was "laid off" at the ripe old age of 50, best thing that ever happened to me (the 12 month package helped, too..). Play golf, drink beer, grow a beard, travel, see friends..something will pop up, especially in Austin...good luck and peace.

Yes, and I had it confirmed in London when our then 2-year-old daughter tried to show someone on the Tube how old she was. They about died laughing.

Yeah it would have to be the very same. Cool on the whole connection thing.

Yes so far this has been fantastic. Churning out pages on screenplays (this time not for me to make... but to try and sell)... and working [deleted] my film.

Thanks for the well wishes.

(And.... FWMustangGirl..... that is too funny.)

Hey Thad,

Sorry to hear you got laid off. I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but here is a motion graphics designer job posting for a company in Austin.

Good Luck on your job search.
