i just saw it on College Football Live. He seemed like he was actually nervous about the question (which was what are you going to do about having to many guys on scholarship i think) .

Also on the show was a poll about which coach would lead their team to the greatest increase in number of wins. JJ got 32 % which was second to Bo Pellini who got 37 %.

Much ado about nothing...

Ain't that the truth. That was no where near "I'm a man. I'm 40" The media really over hyped that one.

First, there are always one or two current players who quit every year for what ever reason. second, there are some grade risks in his class. One or two is just not going to make it. Third, there are gray shirts. Nick Saban convinced 2 or 3 kids his last couple of years at LSU to gray shirt. They got a LSU scholarship but had to wait a semmester if a star with questionable grades actually qualified. If you skip the Fall and show up in the Spring, you can work out with the team in the spring and not lose any eligiblity. So over signing by 6 isn't that big of a deal for a program like Alabama. Heck, a couple of years ago, Tech over signed by 9.

As far as the fans go, they probably don't care. Bill Snyder at Kansas State hardly let any information out to the fans. He would tell them they knew more than he wanted them to know at booster functions and they loved him for it. Of course he has more wins than all the previous coaches in Kansas State's 100+ year football history.

Tide fans only care if Saban leads them to a SEC title. They don't care if a couple of career backups lose their last year of scholarship for undisclosed team violations.

Ding, Ding, Ding. I am a Tide Fan (graduate school) and all I care about is winning an SEC title, which will naturally lead to a NC! How is kicking someone off of scholarship (if they have to do that) any worse than yanking an already offered scholarship?

there is no question that the avenues to get around the rules have been correctly identified. The next question is whether the NCAA should go to a hard cap of 25 to discourage schools from exceeding their scholarship limits by signing 3-5-7-9 players who don't predict to qualify. Let's see if the Coaches would be willing to gamble if they really had a thing to lose. Then you could have a summer signing date for the late qualifiers where all school would have an equal shot at the then fully qualified players.
